"I liked the idea of a quirky, independent motel with its own restaurant. The reality was a bit different. The motel is just okay. It’s older, and seems like it’s not been updated in a good while. "Property touted full spice rack (no garlic) pans (only a few and in poor shape) charcoal supply for grill (wet due to being left outside) fire pit (no wood onsite). They supply the cheapest kitchen sponge and soap (had to watch dishes 3 times) so bring your own. Other than these minor issues, it was a cool place in a remote location, with full wrap around porch with comfortable patio furnishings FYI it's a tiny home. The shower drain is very slow beware so not to flood bathroom. Big loft area...

At check-in, the young girl received a few phone calls and then said my reservation was for a pet, non-smoking room and she had to spend a few minutes to move me to a pet-free, non-smoking room. We checked-in and left for dinner. When we came back to the room I found the bathroom to be dirty. The floor and tub had black hairs on it. The room had a musty closed-up smell. The cabin is well designed but I felt that esthetics are higher valued than functionality. "We enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It was fully furnished and exactly as described in the listing. The cabin was exceptionally clean and appeared to be new. The amenities were a wonderful bonus and included a charcoal grill, paddle boat, fishing poles, hot tub, washer/dryer and fire pit. The location was close to the hiking trails at Savage Gulf State Park, making it easy to explore the area’s beautiful scenery.
