"I LOVED Carol. She was welcoming and kind, made an amazing breakfast for me, answered all my questions. A great hostess. My room (12) was super clean and the bed was comfortable. Lots of pillows and extra blankets. Nice big TV. The water pressure was really low but I think that’s typical in older buildings. The garden was peaceful and I enjoyed sitting there in the evening with a glass of wine. Great stay. Traveled from Canada."

"Very nice hotel and lovely breakfast too. We were with a toddler so cautious about the noise as there were many reviews about high noise level. When we close the windows, it didn’t bother us. It’s so close to many good restaurants and attractions. So we loved it."

"Arrived earlier than expected, helpful lady on reception allowed us to check in early. Conveniently placed to walk into the city with easy motorway access when it is time to go. Have stayed a few times now and never disappointed"

"Note the hotel is surrounded by bars open until 4am and 6am and if your room is facing out on to the main road you might be in for a very sleepless night. The hotel have very little empathy, just along the lines of what do you expect, its in a city centre hotel,.thats the general attitude. Also outright lied and said they offered an alternative room which when i asked at reception was actually told an outtright "no we are fully booked but there are earplugs provided in your room". Such a shame...

"The room was a nice size and clean the hotel was really clean and beautiful breakfast was very nice could be a tad warmer as some items of food were cold"

"Everything about our stay here was great. The staff were very helpful and caring. The room itself was outstanding - even had a view of York Minster. There was a tea service in the room including cookies and chocolates.The breakfast was the typical English breakfast which is a lot of food and it was all delicious. I would gladly stay here again."

"Large older style hotel in a convenient location. Bright welcoming reception and bar and spacious dining area. Room was good; comfortable bed, tv and tea and coffee. Good shower but it was leaking from the shower control end out of the shower on to the bathroom floor and out of the bathroom and wetting the carpet in the bedroom by the bathroom door. Also it didn’t seem that the extractor fan in the bathroom was working well / at all. We reported both of these faults and hopefully they will be...

The hotel is in a fantastic location, very convenient for the city centre, shops, restaurants and the train station, which made everything really easy. "Impressive building with lovely grounds; however unfortunately our room did not live up to the same standard with wine bottles & beer cans left at the door on entry, along with the odour from the previous guests takeaway. Thankfully the staff were able to accommodate a different room for our stay, but it is worth noting the rooms both shared a rather tired appearance and we left a little deflated bearing in mind the room rate."
