"Our family of 4 came for a long weekend at Solomons Island, where we spent time as kids. The Retreat on the Patuxent is an ideal place to get away for peaceful relaxation, while being conveniently located near the restaurants and attractions at Solomons. My mom loved the upstairs bedroom/bathroom suite, and the downstairs bedrooms were spacious for me, my sister, and her husband. We enjoyed the spacious kitchen, the open family room, and the amazing views of the Patuxent from the front windows....

"Beyond being a lovely house, we were impressed by how much space we had available. We had four adults, each of whom had their own room and their own bed—usually oversized—with several beds to spare and more comfy common areas than we could fully take advantage of. "Though the house is small, it was perfect for our stay. It was clean, right on the water, and had a beautiful view. The owner gave clear instructions on how to get to the house and it was easy to communicate with her. We would love to return here sometime as we didn't find enough time to use our kayaks from the property. It's about 40 minutes from Mallows Bay, a very interesting kayaking experience with over 100 submerged vessels from the WWI era."

"The view was spectacular! It suited our needs and we overall loved the place and enjoyed our stay very much. For the price we paid we weren’t happy with the cleanliness when we got there. None of the furniture was very comfortable in the main family room. There were no cushions on some of the chairs and the furniture needed some attention! The outside needed a lot of attention as well. Even just a lawn would’ve been nice. But I will say we enjoyed ourselves very much and would come back again! "

"Super, super cute mid-century mod renovated cozy house, walking distance to many things in Colonial Beach. Located just off the main road, this is a great stay. Very comfortable, so beautifully decorated, and great outdoor space. The neighborhood is a little strange because it's a mix of a lot of older homes, located behind a 7-11, BUT it is just a humble area and we felt safe. "We enjoyed the house. It was beautifully decorated and a great location. Walking distance to the beach and shops/restaurants was perfect. I would recommend the owners install a more secure lock on the front and back doors. We travelled with toddlers and small children and it was very unsafe because they could easily open the door.
