"For a group of empty nesters, a girls trip has a different meaning than it does when you're in your 20s and 30s. This place gives you a chance to relax, let loose a little, get out of your comfort zone a little, fish, go kayaking, and spend some well deserved time together. "

"Everything about it was wonderful. The house the style the charming staircase. Nice coffee bar and decor of every room unique and pleasant. The back porch the lights, the little table out front, Main Street ambiance day and night. The street lights out front at night and the twinkling colored lights around. Lots of friendly people around town. Great time and memorable."

"Quiet and the room was exceptionally clean. "

"Spacious cabin overlooking a beautiful pond, yard & orchard. Grandkids enjoyed catching fish, seeing deer and turtles. Nice quality bath towels & all the comforts of home. Host is so kind & friendly, excellent to communicate with! We definitely will be returning in the future! "

"We stayed with a group of friends over the superbowl weekend. We have stayed here before and we loved it just as much the second time as we did the first. The owner makes things easy for those who stay from her communication with you to the checkout process. The amenities are amazing. We had a great time and we will stay again!"

"My family of 14 people needed a place for all of us to stay for the holidays. The twin turrets was a great fit for what we needed. Everyone had their own bed, the bathrooms took a little time to get showers scheduled, since there are only 2 showers, but it worked out. The home was fun to explore inside and out. We went for some walks on the trails, enjoyed watching the ducks and geese, or just looking out at the lake. So peaceful! "

"My friends and I thought this home was so cute. It was within walking distance of a few places in St. Genevieve. It was very clean and large enough for the four of us. We would definitely stay here again. "

"The Peter Ray house was exactly as described in the listing. The property was immaculate and the owner has thought of everything. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, utensils and everything needed to cook. The living room was cozy and comfortable and the beds were very comfortable as well. The town is so peaceful and quiet and we both slept so well. The property has been restored with thoughtfulness and love. We enjoyed looking around the house. The backyard is very inviting."

"A great home base to explore the area. We brought our food and prepared breakfast a d supper there. We packed a lunch and hiked at Pickle Springs, Hawn State Park, Silver Mines, and Elephant State Park. On a rainy morningg we walked around to the shops in towtown"

"I knew we were staying in a historic house when I booked the listing but I didn’t realize the historic significance of the building at the time. The listing undersells itself and is an absolute steal. The home is extremely clean and has more amenities than you could ever dream of. The owners were so kind and helpful. 10/10, I won’t stay anywhere else the next time we are in town. "

"We were extremely happy with this rental and loved the extra perks of ice, water, coffee, and snacks provided by the owner. What a gem! We will definitely make this our go to for overnight stays when traveling to southern IL. "

"We had a family wedding at Pebble Creek Farm, just 6 miles away from The Roost. Ten of us including aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews had plenty of room at the house to get ready for the wedding, and to gather for snacks and games in the kitchen afterwards. Everything was really clean and comfortable. We would love to come back here and stay for a winery weekend! "
