A lovingly restored 2 bedroom rustic detached stone cottage, and separate 1 bed chestnut house (let together and both included in the price), both with original beamed ceilings and flooring, situated in the hills overlooking the beautiful medieval town of Barga.
Just a 10 min. drive or so from town, yet very peacefully situated in circa 6 hectares of private farm land/forest high up in the hills.

The views from both the houses/extensive patio area & the land are stunning. Eating al fresco under the gazebo is a real treat -the lights of the town provide a romantic backdrop, and due to the altitude it feels possible to touch the stars!

One can cook outside too, with a newly prepared outdoor kitchen area with oven, BBQ and food prep area!

In the fields above, there is the infinity style swimming pool (5M x10M plus Roman steps). Here there is a sunbathing area, and also a covered pergola providing shade too. It is difficult to want to leave this beautiful and meticulously looked after garden...

The rustic houses are furnished in traditional style, are well equipped and have been prepared with love.

A perfect 'remote, yet central' location, and ideal for groups of two couples requiring privacy from each other, but plenty of room to dine and socialise together.

There really is a feeling of pure peace at this house,& it is the perfect place to completely relax, and enjoy the pleasures of the scenery and the quiet!

There are 3 resident cats on site - not permitted in house. There are also goats in a field way up above the pool area. There are also resident tortoises and donkeys on the property - great fun for children!

The property retains most of its original features, with original chestnut beamed ceilings throughout, and wooden and terracotta flooring.

Ground floor:
Large entrance hall, with dresser.
Living / dining room with open fireplace, Satellite TV including English channels, DVD, Internet access.
Kitchen/diner with table, hob, grill, fridge/freezer , microwave and dishwasher. Door leading onto:
Extensive patio area overlooking the town of Barga. Outside eating furniture, and sun beds.
Upstairs:
One double bedroom
One twin bedroom
Extensive 'landing' area with TV, and single bed.
Shower room.
Barn:
The property has a real romantic feel!
On the ground floor there is a living area with large windows and arched doorway out to patio, separated from the kitchen/dining area by a circular working fireplace which sits in the middle of the room and therefore heats the entire house.
Kitchen has oven, hob, fridge, washing machine… living area has working fireplace, dvd player.
Up the spiral staircase there is a lovely romantic double bedroom with doors placed opposite the bed, to take advantage of the wonderful views..
There is also a good sized modern shower room.
Grounds:
The private 'infinity style' swimming pool (10M x 5M plus roman steps) is high above the house so as not to totally spoil the traditional feel of the property, and to ensure it remains totally out of sight. The view from the pool is wonderful and the style of pool means it feels one is swimming in the mountains.

Extensive gardens.

NB:
Not suitable for elderly or infirm due to steep Climb to the pool. Small children will need supervision due to the terraced nature of the grounds and climb to pool.

Traumhaft

Der Aufenthalt war sehr schön. Es gibt jedoch ein paar Dinge die doch erwähnt werden sollten.Es ist auch Nachts sehr heiß in dem Haus (wir haben die Fensterläden den ganzen Tag über geschlossen gehabt). Sobald man diese Nachts auf macht (was nur komplett ohne Schlitze zu empfehlen ist), hört man die halbe Nacht aus der Ferne Hunde bellen (kann der Eigentümer nichts dafür). Weiter auf machen bei den Fensterläden nicht ratsam, da es keine Fliegengitter an den Fenstern gibt, und es vor Fliegen nur so wimmelt. Ich habe am ersten Tag ca 10 Fliegen erschlagen im Haus. Sobald man die Türe der Küche aufmacht um auf die traumhafte Terrasse zu gelangen, kommen schon beim öffnen Fliegen rein. Dies könnte komplett verhindert werden mit Fliegenschutztüren. Die Eigentümerrin hat uns diverse Sprays gegeben, die aber leider nutzlos waren gegen die Fliegen. Der Pool ist traumhaft, jedoch recht kühl (länger als einige Minuten kann man da leider nicht drin bleiben). Am Pool liegen, prinzipiell traumhaft, aber auch dort wimmelt es von Fliegen, die einen nicht so richtig entspannen lassen. Die Zufahrtsstraße ist sehr sehr eng und ich denke mit einem größeren SUV kommt man vermutlich nicht durchs tor...war mit unserem relativ kleinen Auto schon recht eng. Der Aufenthalt wäre perfekt, wenn es die Fliegen nicht gäbe (soviele habe ich noch nirgends erlebt, nicht mal aufm Bauernhof). Die Esel sind total nett zum anschauen und auch die Schildkröten. Das Grundstück ist sehr sehr gepflegt.

Ein unvergesslicher Aufenthalt in einem traumhaften Ferienhaus

Unsere Gruppe aus 3Erwachsenen,2Kindern und Hund verbrachte einen fantastischen Urlaub in dieser Unterkunft. Die Lage mit dem atemberaubenden Bergblick begeisterte uns täglich. Besonders hervorzuheben ist der große, gepflegte Infinity-Pool mit spektakulären Ausblicken. Die Unterkunft besteht aus einem kleinen Haus für 2 Personen, einem größeren für 5 Personen & einem charmanten Tea-House. Jedes Gebäude ist perfekt für die Anzahl der Gäste & strahlt eine gemütliche Atmosphäre aus. Trotz der kompakteren Größe sind sie voll ausgestattet mit Bädern & gut ausgestatteten Küchen. Das Tea-House bietet einen zusätzlich Raum zum Entspannen. Auf dem Gelände gibt es ein Tiergehege mit Schildkröten, das besonders unsere Kinder begeisterte. Eine dreiköpfige Eseltruppe zieht freundlich durch die Umgebung – ein liebenswerter Anblick, der unseren Aufenthalt noch besonderer machte. Das großzügige Gelände ist mit idyllischen Sitzgelegenheiten ausgestattet, um die Aussicht zu genießen oder sich zu erholen. Die Kochmöglichkeiten waren hervorragend und es war alles vorhanden. Der 300Jahre alten Pizza-Ofen sorgte für unvergessliche Abendessen. Ein herausragendes Highlight war die unglaubliche Freundlichkeit der Eigentümer, die uns das Gefühl gaben, bei Freunden zu Gast zu sein. Die Unterkunft war ideal für uns, mit viel Platz&exzellenter Pflege. Auch die Sauberkeit war top. Die Höhenlage hielt uns mückenfrei. Auto ist nötig, um die Umgebung zu erkunden, aber die Abgeschiedenheit&Ruhe waren es wert.

Toskana pur!

Sehr schönes Anwesen in den Bergen über Barga! Perfekt zum abschalten und Sonne genießen. Anfahrt schwierig, da es einfach schlecht zu finden ist ob Navi oder der Beschreibung des Reise Anbieters. Da könnte sicher mit einfachen Hilfsmitteln das Problem gelöst werden. Sauberkeit leider 3 von 5 Sternen. Vermieterin ist immer mal vor Ort, Blumen gießen, Garten Arbeit.

The property for our needs was a little too isolated, a car is a necessity and you need to Make sure you have all groceries etc with you to avoid the dive down the very steep mountain . The accommodation is very rustic and unfortunately extremely hot making sleeping very uncomfortable, no fans or air conditioning. Keeping the windows open was not an option as there were so many hornets about at the time of our visit . However the beautiful outdoor pool and Garden area are amazing and my grandson loved feeding the donkeys and turtles. If you are seeking peace and quiet and isolation this is definitely the place for you .

Fabulous Tuscan mountain property

Fabulous place to stay for a peaceful time in beautiful Tuscany. The pool area was amazing and the views stunning. The eating area was lovely also with fabulous views. The properties were well equipped and the tortoises and donkeys were a hit. Barga is just down the road and is delightful with lots of bars and restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will miss the peace and tranquility - thank you to our host Simonetta.

Wunderschöne Aussicht

Der Pool und die Aussichten sind noch schöner als auf den Bildern und entschädigen für die steile und enge etwas längere Anfahrt sowie das zum Teil etwas in die Jahre gekommene Haus . Es ist eben das letzte Haus am Berg, was ja auch den Reiz ausmacht, Ruhe pur außer bellenden Hunden von den benachbarten Bergen. Bei Problemen helfen die Besitzer schnell und freundlich, wir wurden sogar mit eigenem Honig und tollem Gebäck verwöhnt. Die Garfagnana ist sehr schön und Barga eine unserer Lieblingsstädte geworden, Lucca ebenso und die Abenteuercanyons lohnen sich auch .

Paradise in der Toskana

Wir waren mit 5 Leuten und 3 Hunden vor Ort. Die Besitzer sind total lieb und hilfsbereit. Der Waldweg bis zum Gelände ist etwas holprig aber dort angekommen vergisst man alles drum herum. Wir wollen wieder kommen 😍

Lovely place with dreamy views

The place was just as good as we hoped. Lovely outsides and an amazing view over the Apuan Alps and the valley below. Great pool area. 30-40 minutes to beautiful hikes in the mountains and only roughly 1 hour to the ocean and beaches. The host is also very hospitable and helpful. We arrived very late (23.00) due to flight delays so we was unable to buy breakfast because all stores were closed at that time. In the morning we found, on the table outside, that Marko had brought us a plate of pastry and tea. It really saved our first morning! We can absolutely recommend staying at this lovely place.

Wer Ruhe und Erholung sucht, ist genau richtig! Tolles altes Haus mit super schönem Pool!

Wir waren als Familie mit 3 Kindern (9, 14, 16) Ende August 2021 für eine Woche in diesem tollen Objekt. Die Aussicht und der Pool ca. 10 x 5 Meter sind super! Die Hausbesitzer kümmern sich sehr liebevoll um Ihre Gäste und das Anwesen. Jeden Tag wird der Pool gereinigt und die Blumen werden regelmäßig gegossen - nur durch diese besondere Pflege erhält dieses alte Anwesen seinen besonderen Charm und die gemütliche Atmosphäre. Für uns war der Pizzaofen eine rießige Bereicherung, denn die selbstgemachten Pizzen und die Semmeln waren super lecker. Die beiden getrennten Häuser waren für uns auch die Möglichkeit, dass jeder ein eigenes Reich hatte. Es gibt in beiden Häusern jeweils eine Küche mit allem nötigen Utensilien. Wir haben viel und gerne gekocht und uns hat nichts gefehlt. Durch die Hanglage findet man immer wieder ein schönes Plätzchen zum verweilen.

Stunning view and fabulous pool area

All the pictures can not capture the beauty of the pool area and the stunning view in the mountains and the valley from the whole property! You have two separate houses, for 4 and 2 people, in a typical antique tuscany style. Cleanliness is ok. Because we spend 95% except the nights outside and the pool, at the bbq and the dining area this was no problem. Two points good to know: if you love cooking yourself note that the kitchen is rather poorly equipped and WiFi is only available in the main house inside. Mrs Simonetta and her team take very good care of you and help where possible! On departure day it’s quite hectic because cleaning and maintenance work starts already early in the morning. We spend a fantastic week and would love to go back…

Top Location with stunning view

We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed the view from the terrace and the pool. Our host was very kind and helped us with everything. The uphill road is managable, the area around is great and you can relax without any close neighbours.

Tuscan Bliss

What a glorious property - a gem in the Tuscan hills. We stayed one week, but so wish we could have made it longer. Our family of 6, including two adult children, teenager and youngest of 10 had the most wonderful holiday. We booked it based on the photographs (and that pool really does look exactly as the photo's show), and the reviews of other guests - and we whole-heartedly agree with all the positive comments left by others. The property itself is set on the hillside, so there are steps up to the pool, or a walk up the drive, but we never found this an issue at all- it made us more appreciative of the cool water and the view, of which you just can't tire. The buildings are rustic, therefore the kitchens, as per the photo's are quite small, but they have all the equipment/cooking utensils you need. And we spent very little time indoors anyway, eating every meal on the glorious terrace, appreciating the morning sun heating the hills, or watching it sinking lower to the horizon. The hazelnut tree above would constantly drop its fruit to be enjoyed with local honey, figs from the tree and some pecorino. Because the property faces south, you have the sun all day long - streaming through the bedroom window in the morning, on the terrace in the afternoon (with shade offered by the hazelnut tree and pagoda), and on the pool terrace throughout the day too, but the pool is replenished by a mountain spring so it never overheats. We just loved watching the swallows who would arrive every afternoon to swoop past taking diving sips of the water. The clinking goat bells echo across the hills, and the dogs from far and wide obviously enjoy an evening conversation 102 dalmation-style. We knew the pizza evenings are no longer on, and were sorry we couldn't share one, but we cannot sing the praises of Simonetta and Marco highly enough. We had terrible car hire issues but they were both so concerned and helpful, and did their best to make up for the way the car hire company let us down. Their kindness was greatly apprecated. Thank you for a marvelous memorable holiday

Prachtige locatie. 2 aparte huizen, elk met een eigen keuken waar voldoende uitrusting is. 3 badkamers (2 binnen, 1 buiten badkamer). Eigen bbq en pizza oven. Zwembad is zalig, mooi en goed onderhouden. Heel veel verschillende plaatsen om buiten te zitten. Ontvangst was zeer vriendelijk, open voor vragen. Tijdens verblijf super toegankelijk via whats app en hulp voor alles. Zeker de moeite waard als je in volle rust wil genieten ver van alles!

Perfect stay

Alhough the interior was a bit dated, overall it was one of our best stays ever. Awesome value for money. Great welcome and hospitability, a lot of space, romantic bedroom and magnificent location and views.

Atemberaubend

Ein magischer Ort hoch oben! Der fantastische Blick, die Stille der Natur, das große, freiläufige Anwesen und vor allem der wundervolle Pool haben uns begeistert! Meine Eltern wohnten in dem kleineren Haus wir mit zwei fast erwachsenen Kindern im großen. Perfekter Ort für die Großfamilie! Man kann sich begegnen und auch einen stillen Ort für sich finden, es ist viel Platz. Wer die Umgebung erkunden will, muss wissen, dass es bis nach Barga ca. 15-20‘ mit dem Auto zu fahren ist, es ist ein sehr kurviger und steiler Weg bis zum Haus. Sehr empfehlenswert, wenn man Ruhe sucht und gerne auch mal ein paar Tage am Stück an einem Ort bleiben möchte, um zu lesen, zu baden und sich auszuruhen!

Très heureux d'être venu

L’endroit est superbe, la propriétaire est très gentille. Le seul hic, mais elle n’en peut rien, ce sont les chiens d’un voisin qui aboient à toutes heures du jour et de la nuit. Alors que sinon, il n’y a que le chant des oiseaux...

Einfach etwas besonderes

Dieses Objekt besteht aus 2 Häusern (1 x 2 Pers. und 1 x 5 Personen, von daher ideal für 2 Paare, 2-3 Kinder oder mit Oma und Opa. Es liegt etwas außerhalb, deshalb benötigt man ein Auto. Die Vermieterin und ihr Mann sind echte Schätze und sehr hilfsbereit. Das ganze Anwesen ist super gut und sehr liebevoll gepflegt. Das einzige was wir vermisst haben, war eine Kaffeemaschine, wie man sie in Deutschland kennt, mit einer Biletta konnte ich leider nichts anfangen. Der Pool und die dazugehörige Gartenanlage sind einsame spitze. Man befindet sich ca. 40 km nördlich von Lucca und ist deshalb leider nicht mal eben in Florenz, San Gimignano oder Siena, da muss man ein bisschen Zeit einplanen.
