"The room was excellent, bed was so comfortable that we slept in on our 1st night, leaving only 1 and a half hours to get ready for a wedding we were going to. The bathroom was lovely, a large shower with rainfall head. Very deep bath that we used on 2nd day. A great menu and restaurants to choose from. "We had a fantastic stay at this quirky and beautiful hotel. Even though we had booked the petite double room it didn't disappoint. As hotel rooms go it wasn't small. Beautifully decorated with beautiful ornate furniture and very comfy bed. Tea , coffee and water replenished every day. The breakfast and food in the restaurant was excellent. Staff were excellent, lovely and friendly. We would definitely go back. "

"Beautiful property in lovely countryside. The room was spacious and clean with good facilities provided. The bar was well stocked and the food lovely, although a little pricey, especially the children’s meal! Breakfast was fab with a great choice and cooked to order so was piping hot on arrival. Went to Kielder winter wonderland so this was an ideal stay as only 10mins drive away. Would definitely recommend."

East Woodburn Bridge A very interesting bridge spanning the River Rede near East Woodburn. Despite a lot of research I have been unable to unearth any historical facts about this crossing on the Border County Ride drove road. The main span, crossing the river itself, would appear to date from the late 18th Century. The section on the left of the photograph would appear to pre-date this. There is a very faint engraving on a stone pillar on the western entrance of the bridge which may read 1732. The main span must have been replaced at some time in the 18th Century and 'tagged on' to the remains of an earlier crossing. There are two clearly distinct architectural styles - dressed stone on the main span cf. rough stone on the earlier western approach. If anyone knows any better, I'd love to hear from them.
