  • Welcome to Bart’s Back River Retreat, a bright and airy three-level townhome on the peaceful South End of Tybee Island. Nestled on the Back River and just a short stroll from the Back River Pier and beach, this spacious retreat offers comfort, style, and water views—perfect for families or small groups looking for a quiet coastal escape.

    This 3-bedroom, 3-bath home sleeps up to 8 guests and features a modern open-concept main living area with brand-new furnishings. The well-equipped kitchen has plenty of counter space, a breakfast bar for four, and a dining area with seating for six—ideal for gathering after a day in the sun.

    Relax in the cozy living room with two comfy couches and a wall-mounted flat-screen TV, or step out onto the main deck and take in the serene views of the Back River. Whether you’re sipping morning coffee or enjoying a sunset glass of wine, it’s the perfect outdoor spot to unwind.

    Sleeping arrangements include:
    Primary Bedroom (3rd Floor) – King bed, en-suite bath with large shower, flat-screen TV, and private balcony with stunning river views and outdoor seating.
    Bedroom 1 (2nd Floor) – Queen bed, flat-screen TV, access to a private balcony, full bath in the hallway.
    Bedroom 2 (3rd Floor) – Two queen beds, flat-screen TV, private balcony, and access to a full bath down the hall. A washer and dryer are conveniently located in the hallway.

    Enjoy the private backyard with beautiful river views—great for watching nature or letting the kids play (note: no dock, swimming, or fishing allowed from the property). There are two staircases inside connecting the floors, and parking is available for up to 3 vehicles in the driveway (garage not for guest use).

Great Location and Sunset Views

The house was exactly as advertised. Everything was clean and neat, the check in/out process was simple. The location was perfect and the views were even better than the pictures. We got lucky with great weather and pretty sunsets every night.

We could walk to action but enjoyed the quiet neighborhood while hanging at the house. Barts is perfect for several families. I recommend eating at The Deck and AJ’s for waterfront dining.

Bart's Back River Retreat was in a quiet neighborhood. We had plenty of room for the two of us. Having a door code was appreciated as we did not have to keep track of house keys during our stay. Check-out was simple although there were conflicting instructions between the emails we received and the information posted on the refrigerator. The rental was very clean and nicely decorated.The master suite was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The common living area was big enough for us, but would be crowded with larger groups. The kitchen is small, but seemed to be well-stocked. Frankly, we did not cook as we enjoyed visiting local restaurants. The sunset views were phenomenal!Two things to be aware of if you have mobility issues—there are stairs (approximately 14 steps) to reach the main floor of the rental and there are stairs to the upper level. The couch is low and can be difficult to get up from. These things did not bother us, but may be of concern for others with mobility issues.We were able to enjoy side trips to Savannah and Charleston as both were within driving distance. The lighthouse and surrounding museum on Tybee Island were very interesting and informative. It would be nice to have comfortable seating on the decks (which are smaller than they appear in the photos, but still nice for sitting outside and enjoying the weather). We enjoyed our stay at Bart's Back River Retreat. It was a nice place to relax and enjoy the low country.

This has a great location that is only a couple blocks down from the beach access. The view was amazing and the rooms were decorated very nicely. Some extra blankets on hand would be a good addition since there’s only light quilts. Overall it is a beautiful location and we had a wonderful time!
