"An historic hotel in a beautiful part of New Zealand. Clean, comfortable room. Did it eat evening meals in dining room, exceedingly noisy group and dishes expensive and focused too much on seafood. Very good location though, on harbour front and very easy walking distance to tourist attractions and reasonable cafes."

"Well appointed room and lovely welcome from owners on arrival. Really good views of Russell township and the water / boats. Only thing I would say, bring some strong legs if you plan on walking - the driveway is STEEP hahaaaa. Had a very pleasant stay (5 nights)."

"Sehr freundlicher und hilfsbereiter Gastgeber. John ist sehr aufmerksam und gibt Tipps für Unternehmungen und Umgebung. Zimmer war sauber und gemütlich. Kleine Küchenzeile ist auch vorhanden. Ich war in Einheit 7 und hatte von der Terrasse aus Blick aufs Wasser. Nur die Live Musik am Wochenende von nebenan hat etwas gestört aber das lag daran, dass die Dame einfach nicht singen konnte. "

"The room we stayed in (#3) was featured on their Expedia page and on their website and looked very good as far as motels are concerned, but we're pretty sure the photo was taken many, many years ago because everything in the room was just old and worn. The sheets and blankets were stained, and my husband was dubious as to whether they were even cleaned, so we ended up sleeping fully clothed. We didn't sit on the sofa because it was stained. "Good size room although was up 2 flights of steps and there was no lift. Would be difficult for older travellers or those with a disability to access. Located opposite bay which is very picturesque. Short walk to dining and shopping"

"Cooking facilities good for two guests with microwave, bench top hot plates. This room had spa tub with shower, general spa outside and pool. Staff on hand and very helpful. Ideally situated with short walk to town centre and beach a few steps away. Would recommend."
