The highlight of this hotel was definitely the bed. Super comfy. The staff were also very professional and helpful.
Breakfast was limited but tasty and the coffee was great. I was able to take a few muffins and a yoghurt pot away with me to have for morning tea. I didn’t spend much time exploring the area directly around the hotel but Kings Cross train station is very close and easy to access. It can be a bit noisy at night and I personally didn’t feel safe as a solo woman walking the area after about 10pm.
The hotel itself is functional but definitely needs a new coat of paint and some repairs on baseboards, lift buttons etc. The bathroom didn’t have an exhaust fan, just a small vent. I had to prop the door open with a bin to air it out. I’m not sure whether there was mould in there but I’d not be surprised with the humidity from the shower and lack of ventilation. I also had significant trouble getting my key cards to work in the door but reception staff were able to resolve this for me very quickly. There’s also no storage in the rooms other than an open hanging rack, so be prepared for that. I was able to store my bag at the hotel while I explored the city before a late flight so that was a great service.
It’s a pretty decent budget option and you get what you pay for. Again, I was very impressed with the friendly and professional staff members, and the bed was excellent.
