The rooms are very well equipped and there are free snacks etc. Regarding the amenities I did not feel though that this was a five start hotel. Outside of the small entry lobby/ bar there is no space to use. The gym can be utilized in a hotel around the corner, but it’s small. We were expecting some rooftop terrace or special experience for a five star. For a downtown city hotel...

"The staff went out of our way to make us feel welcome. We received a welcome basket with local treats when we arrived and breakfast delivered to the room every morning. There was a happy hour with wine, beer and charcuterie each evening. The room was beautiful and the bathroom was modern and a good size. We have already recommended it to several people and will definitely stay again if we’re in the area."

"Please note that, although Expedia filters search results for “pet-friendly” properties, this hotel (Palmetto Charleston) only accepts dogs. They will very “kindly” turn you away and tell you to find another place. After driving nearly 300 miles, that’s not exactly a warm welcome."
