"We had a fantastic time here. Our host greeted us upon arrival and asked if we would like to participate in an authentic tea ceremony. We got dressed in provided outfits, and the kids loved making matcha tea with the host. We loved the two levels, the indoor and outdoor baths, and the washing machine (kids use up a lot of clothes). We've been touring Asia, and this was one of the nicest places we've visited during our travels, especially while travelling with kids. Everything seemed to...

"Staff went above and beyond to make our experience memorable and comfortable. Giving us time and space but also available when needed. We incorporated dinner and breakfast which I highly recommend. Such a unique experience to stay in a matchiya. The place was absolutely stunning. "

"It was our family’s first time staying at a machiya. It was an easy place to find upon arrival in Kyoto. The house was lovely. The tea ceremony at check-in along with the Japanese sweets were much appreciated. They were able to help us arrange for delivery of our luggage onwards to our next city. Thank you for a wonderful stay!"

"Great, clean hotel in a good location. No windows for any natural light however, made the rooms a bit dark. "

"This was a great choice for my family of five traveling to Kyoto. It was exceptionally clean and the suite was spacious. Free coffee, tea, sake and beer in the lobby was a nice amenity. It was easy to walk to the train station and other local attractions from this location. Riding the train was extremely easy. There were options for dining and coffee within walking distance as well as convenience stores and supermarkets. It was also easy to grab an Uber and receive Uber eats. I loved the shower...

"We love our stay at this place, Almost perfect
The room was clean and as expected a bit small but LARGE for Japan . The only thing that I would change is Chairs and table to stay in the room are extra from my POV
I would have remove a chair and a table and just leave the night stand and a chair to have a bit more of room for luggage
But Everything was just perfect "

"This property was in the heart of it all but tucked away on a quiet side street. It has everything you could need in a stay. As if you were living in your very well appointed own apartment in the city. We especially loved the Japanese mattresses which were very comfortable for our kids and came with very nice bedding that made for restful sleep."

"We stayed in Tokyo and Osaka prior to our stay here in Kyoto at Maeniiya Machiya Inn. Maeniiya Machiya Inn is a definite great place to stay and close to everything.
Akemi (property owner) is a wealth of knowledge and gave a lot of tips and recommendations. Be sure to visit Sukemasa for dinner if you like Gyoza. It is very close and yummy for 1000yen!
Thank you again for a wonderful stay.

"What an exquisite property this is! It was such a special experience to be able to walk down our very own Kyoto alley to our home away from home. The hosts were very communicative and spoke great English when we came to check in. Loved our stay!"

"I really like this hotel, it is so close from one of the main streets in Kyoto, the location is so good, the service, it is so clean, I would recommend this hotel definitely and would stay again. "
