A great place for a river play family weekend. We met our adult children here for a relaxing reunion and it accommodated ten adults and two dogs with plenty of gathering spaces. We spent one day on the river, and made use of the floats, kayaks, and the big wagon for easy transport. The steps go down right into 12” water, just as an FYI for renters bringing kids and dogs. Loved the covered patio, we ate all of our meals out there. Ample comfortable seating for ten people, which we have found to be a problem at other rentals. Beautiful view of the mountains while floating. The owner was quick to respond to our questions by text.

This property is in a beautiful location, quiet and fairly private. Large home that accommodated our party of 10. Plenty of kitchen supplies and utensils. Long walk to the river but well worth it. We didn’t use the fire pit because it was grown up with blackberry plants. We were allowed to bring our dogs and they had plenty of running space. My only issue was it could have been cleaner outside. Yard needed mowing and piles of leaves and debris on patio, carport and outside stairs.

We like the house and the big kitchen. Clean property. Huge backyard. Pet-friendly. The separate guest house was great, as well as the finished basement.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It is updated beautifully with great amenities. Beautiful views. Neighbors were friendly. Would definitely stay here again!!

Beautiful and bucolic

The house was spacious, had great gathering places indoors and out, clean, and warm. We used the kayaks and had a lovely paddle down the river; up the street we walked by farms with new foals in the fields, and toasted 'mores over the fire pit.

This was such an amazing place. Wonderful river and nature sounds with wide open space to have so many great backyard games and fun. Fire pit was well stocked with wood and made for the center of our evening activities. The place had everything we needed and is only minutes from a grocery/gas station. Only 19 minutes away from the Shenandoah’s too with many trails to pick from.

Perfect Getaway!

Very spacious house for guests and pets. The walk to the river is worth every step as the access to the river is very accommodating for guests of all ages! House was spotless and came with a full variety of amenities for relaxation and fun! Outstanding communication with host. Looking forward to staying here again!

Weekend getaway

Great location for a getaway off the grid but close to town! Large backyard great for dogs/kids that leads to a nicely paved river access staircase with handrails. Great firepit to warm up by and make s’mores. Perfect river access for floating, fishing, kayaking and photos. Basement was a great feature for our group for our older kids who wanted their own space! Peaceful and so much nature to take in.

Short Family Trip

Overall, the property was okay. The listing mentioned 2 king beds, but there is only one. The downstairs king is in a main hangout area due to the bar and seating - but there is no privacy, so make sure whoever sleeps there is okay with that.

Basement has flooded in past and currently shows water line on wall. Damp and musty even with dehumidifier. Only king size bed is in basement. Water supply had old pipes and smells sour while taking shower and washing hands. Signs posted by sinks saying water was tested and deemed safe. We found old trash in garbage cans inside house. Property large and with some recent upgrades. Neighbors tend to walk across the property frequently with their dogs. Be aware river area furniture sun rotted unsafe to use. Ticks are very active got several bites. Kayaks were present but no paddles. If you do go take bottled water and doxycycline. If you want to cook use only microwave and stovetop. Oven is filthy grease stained and smokes when heated. Exhaust fan has no outside ventilation. Bbq needs replacing or new burners. Wish we stayed somewhere else.

Cute place

We had a great time! The listing about the size of beds is incorrect and I've messaged the owner. The 1 room that says 2 double beds is 2 twins. There is only 1 king on entire property in basement and there are actually 4 bathrooms. Just want to let people know. Kitchen was well stocked, albeit randomly organized, the bathrooms were super clean. Be aware the river is a few minutes walk from the house, (you can't see the river from the house). The grill is awesome and there are a lot of tubes but they need to be blown up. We all had a great time and appreciated the coziness and decor of the place-the price seemed a bit high for what we got but it's a great spot!

Property location was fantastic- the grounds and proximity to the river were awesome. The house itself was spacious enough for our group of 7 adults. Our golden retrievers loved exploring the yard and swimming in the river. Only negatives were that the trash toters were full when we arrived and only had a few bags removed during our week long visit. And the cottage that we intended to use had a problem with the water filtration system- the water smelled terrible- like being smacked in the face with sulfur- which rendered the cottage unusable. A real disappointment since it’s such an adorable addition to the property. Heads up if you’re bringing your dogs… There is a large neighborhood dog that roams around freely. He is friendly with people but we didn’t want to chance there being a problem between him and our dogs so we had to be on alert whenever we were outside with our pups.

Nice property - close to town

This property is located close to town so shopping, coffee and finding things to do is not hard. Owner was very pleasant when messaging her. There are plenty of games to play. But... There was no toilet paper in the bathrooms and the houses always stayed damp(humid). So towels after a shower never dried. There were dead spiders and bugs all over the guest house floor. The water in the house smalls awful. There are signs around the house saying that it is on well water and it smalls metallic but the water in the guest house smells like sulfer... .isnt harmful, but just a turn off when you are brushing you teeth or showering. There are kayaks on the property, but no trailer to use. So taking them on the river isn't feesible unless you have a truck to haul them back if you take them down river and dock domwhere. There were deer everymorning in the front yard and it was nice to have a bonfire even though it rained everyday we were there
