  • RVA offers Silver Sands Gulf Beach Resort. Located beach front on beautiful Longboat Key, this resort offers all the amenities of a large hotel with the privacy and seclusion that has Silver Sands guests returning each year. Relax on our private beach, walk on our soft white sand, take a dip in our heated beachside pool, or enjoy a complimentary chaise lounge and beach umbrella while breathing in the fresh salt-water air. Practice your golf game on our putting green or relax on our beautiful beach with your favorite novel. Wireless Internet access is available in the privacy of your individual unit, at the garden area or on the pool deck.



    Limited Membership Privileges: Guests of Silver Sands Gulf Beach Resort #255 will have temporary membership privileges at Cedars Tennis Resort located at 645 Cedars Court on Longboat Key. The limited temporary membership allows the guest access to fully-lit Har-Tru tennis and pickleball courts (after 1 p.m. daily and subject to availability), community bicycles, fishing pier and Jr. Olympic heated swimming pool. The guest will also have access to the community fitness center.



    Accommodations: Silver Sands Gulf Beach Resort is a relaxing retreat located directly on the Gulf of Mexico on the northern-end of Longboat Key. Choose from our various unit styles including hotel rooms, one- and two-bedroom garden view units, and one- and two-bedroom beach front units.

The room was great, we didn't spent much time inside. We enjoyed being on the beach. We used kitchen a little, but I would prefer if there would be any salt, pepper, sugar so if one need something, doesn't have to bring or buy just to use it few times.

We absolutely loved how close this was to the beach! We could easily go for a walk on the beach or watch the sunset! Amazing!!

Location - Location - Location !!

This was my second visit to Silver Sands, and anxious to return again. Staff was courteous and helpful, Beach was beautiful, and just out your door. Close proximity to Sarasota and St. Armands. Numerous fine restaurants within short distance. A bit dated, but enjoyed the quiet family atmosphere, and met many nice people at poolside.

good spot for easy beach access

It had most everything we needed, maybe could use a few more kitchen items, but we got by. The living room needs a better reading lamp, but the furniture was comfortable, and the TV setup was nice. The beach access is the best thing about this resort. The complex was pretty quiet, and the pool was never very busy.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Positives: location, the beach was incredible! Easy access- plenty of loungers. Pool was good. Negatives: the condo itself was lacking. Very dark- better lamps are needed throughout. Could use a new coat of paint. Furniture was dingy and end table to set your coffee on would have been nice . coffee table was too bumpy to set anything on. Kitchen items very sparse. Bathroom - vent hanging out of ceiling- very dirty. Plastic table/chairs on porch. Considering the price there are so many better, higher quality options out there - over all the condo itself was a little depressing- not what you want for vacation.

Very Pleased overall with this property. Check In was easy and staff was very polite and helpful. The grounds were well kept and the pool was clean with great seating. The room was clean and was perfect for the 2 of us. Comfortable bed and nice seating area and could see the ocean and pool from the Lanai. The parking can be tight if there are several vehicles in the lot. The washer and dryer for the complex is outside but under roof.

Great location

We had a nice spur of the moment stay at Silver Sands #255. Although the furnishings were a bit dated and worn, the unit was Clean and comfortable. We did have a few issues with AC and fridge, but the management was very helpful and immediately had someone up there to check it out. We loved the beach front convenience, heated pool, screened balcony and complimentary beach chairs and umbrellas. Kitchen was nicely stocked for cooking. We loved the smallness of the place— lots of privacy and super quiet!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We love this place! It was our second year at River sands and it was just a perfect vacation. The views alone are worth it! The beach is only steps away and not crowded like the public beaches. We saw so many amazing things this year. Dolphins, crabs, a manatee and even a sea turtle! The pool and mini putt are a great break from the beach. Our only complaint is the pull out bed was quite rough to sleep on and the hot water had a musty smell. Overall we love it here and will return!

The resort was clean, quiet, and peaceful. I could not have imagined a better vacation. It was the perfect time of year to be there. It was fine; I’m just a bit spoiled. An older property but well maintained. Bed was comfortable. LR TV very small. Unusable closet stuffed with bulk. Tiny bathroom, light bulb missing, no batteries in remote, plastic upright chairs for lanai. But great location on the island. Good front desk customer service.

Ok so I had a family emergency the day I had to check in...I cannot say or share my experience...I never checked in or stayed...I asked for credit or a refund but got denied...its not the hotel's fault, they have rules they go by...I payed top dollar for a room the that I never stayed in, money lost on my behalf...Oh well...the front desk lady over the phone was very nice...I can't say anything else since I did not have experience with the property, hotel or room.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: For the most part, it was a good stay. There were a couple of issues, but would not prevent me from staying here again. The sliding door out to the patio was almost unusable. I could not open it myself. I had to have my husband open it for me. I would’ve spent more time out on the patio if the door was easier to open it really should be replaced. The furniture seemed a bit icky, unidentifiable stains on the couch, so we covered the furniture with sheets during our stay. Other than that, everything else was good. well stocked kitchen working appliances great location, we will return.

Fun on the Beach

Property was well maintained and easy to get around. Room was as described. Very clean and furnished nicely. Good view from the Lanai of the pool area and the ocean. The pool was very nice. Clean and warm. Not very busy while we were there so no crowds to deal with at the pool. We were just steps from the beach. The beach was very nice and there were several beach chairs to use from the resort. So many good places to eat or places to shop within minutes away. The only things that I wish were better were the parking area can be full and tight sometimes and the washer/dryers are outside under the 2nd floor walkway. I was very pleased overall and definitely would return.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Property staff were great and limited interaction with other guests was also great. Unit needs some maintenance--burnt out lights, missing window shadw slats resulting in minimal privacy, but it didn't bother us much. WOrst issue was paper thin walls--we could hear every word the neighbors said, knew what they were eating, and knew what was happening on all the TV shows they watched. And they weren't being particularly loud--just doing what normal people do. Weather was cold and thus we couldn't use the beach or pool, so didn't get value for the beachfront price we paid, but that's not their fault. For the price we paid, I'd go back if I knew the weather would be better and we were planning to hang around the beach/pool rather than explore the region. Probably bad planning on my part.
