OCEANSIDE Salvo- Colony Drive - Let your SOULSHINE this year at this charming home in quiet Salvo village, with convenient beach access just a few minutes' walk from the home. Park in the deep, shaded carport and unpack your boogie boards and hot dogs, you've arrived at the beach! Modern appointments adorn this traditional Hatteras cottage, including hardwood floors in the great room, stainless steel appliances and granite kitchen countertops. There are three bedrooms from which to choose, including a queen master bedroom with private bathroom, and two more bedrooms (queen, pyramid bunk) that share a hall bath. A covered porch is home to the bubbly hot tub, the perfect evening destination for beach weary bodies. The kitchen comes complete with all you need to prepare the week's meals and comfortable furnishings surround the large flat screen TV in the great room. Make plans to sit in the sunshine this year at SOULSHINE.

Great property overall

This may be rather long but we appreciated another reviewer mentioning a few tips which helped us prepare and wanted to do the same. We enjoyed our stay here. Great location and close to the beach. Our 3 year old had no problem walking there. We were able to walk back for lunch to get a little break from the sun. The open layout of the house between the kitchen and living room was nice. The master bedroom was a good size. We loved the cover porch - would be great if there was a little picnic table up there as that was our favorite place to hang out. We enjoyed the hot tub as well. The outdoor shower was clean and really nice. A few things that would have made the place better - The room with the bunks could use a new dresser. The dresser drawers were a challenge for us to open and close and even harder for the kids without worry of them getting hurt. The bunk beds were nearly impossible to get sheets on (and stay on). We did find hair all over the sheets in the other two bedrooms. There was also hair all over the bedroom and floor. We called and they did bring over sheets for us pretty quickly as well as a broom for the house as there was none. We saw a roach in the master bathroom in one of the drawers once. After that i was afraid to open/use the drawer. I was glad that I had seen a review about bringing our own kitchenware. There are no casserole dishes and no measuring cups. Not a big deal as we brought our own casserole. It also says it sleeps 7 but there are only 6 chairs for the dining room. We did notice in a photo so brought a folding chair just in case. None of the issues we had were anything we got hung up on and we really did have a great week and would recommend the place.

Review

The house was clean when we arrived. However, we found around seven roaches. Two of those were alive. There was also a hole in the ceiling above the sink. It looked like someone had stuffed a paper towel in it. We noticed ants coming out. We would stay at another surf or sound property, but probably not this one.

Loved this place!

Great house, great location for our family get away to OBX! Size was perfect for our family of 5. Updated house and loved having the hot tub to relax in at the end of the day! We’ll be back!

Clean, open, great property overall

We really enjoyed our stay. It was very clean, open, and just a 5-7 minute walk to the beach. We especially enjoyed stargazing from the amazing, spacious, and clean hot tub! Just a few things that would have made this place perfect - we were awoken with the sunrise in the master bedroom every day because the curtains were very thin. There weren’t window coverings on most of the windows, which made it feel like we were a bit exposed in the evenings. The garbage can was very tiny for a house of this size, which may seem trivial, but it would be very difficult with a full house. The garbage can also had no lid, and a few times we witnessed some roaches in the house. If you are staying here and planning to cook, bring your gear! All of the kitchen utensils and cookware are quite worn and dated. The couch is super comfortable as well as the bed in the master. Overall a great experience!
