1. Ventilation is inadequate and, as the flat has a southern exposure, it was uncomfortably warm and stuffy throughout the day and night, despite my best efforts - the bedroom included. 2. Noise and air pollution from traffic - the flat faces two streets that have heavy traffic during rush hour, and enough traffic through the night to prevent me, in combination with problem 1, from falling, and staying, asleep. 3. Lack of privacy - the curtains over the balcony door, the only means of cutting off the view from outside, are not fully opaque, enabling passers-by to see the silhouettes of the occupants. 4. Unpleasant odours linger in the lobby of the block of flats and elsewhere; I noticed, in particular, the smell of cigarette smoke and of animal poo. 5. Problems with maintenance - for instance, the toilet flush button stopped working soon after I arrived, requiring me to remove the tank cover and set it aside so I could reach the flush mechanism; and not all of the cutlery was properly cleaned.
