  • Welcome to Unnecessary, a beautifully renovated coastal retreat just a short stroll from Hoopers Beach and a scenic walk to Long Beach, Fox Beach, and The Outlet.

    Please note:
    • Pet friendly – outdoor only (by owner approval)
    • Free Wi-Fi available
    • Top bunks are suitable for guests aged 14 years and under only
    • Under no circumstances are vehicles permitted on the grassed front area

    Firewood is supplied during the winter months (1 June – 31 September). Outside of these dates, wood can be purchased locally from Robe Hardware (Mitre 10) or Robe Auto and Marine (opposite Foodland) at your own expense.

    Unnecessary has been extensively renovated to create a modern, comfortable, and spacious holiday home with beautiful views over Guichen Bay. Designed for families or groups, the home offers multiple living zones and plenty of space to relax across both levels.

    The lower level includes a bunk room with TV, a queen bedroom, bathroom, laundry, and a cosy reading/TV nook—ideal for children or teenagers to have their own space.

    Upstairs, the open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area flows onto an extended deck, perfect for outdoor dining and enjoying the coastal outlook. The kitchen has been fully upgraded with modern appliances, making it easy to cook and entertain during your stay.

    The upper level also features two bathrooms (main and ensuite), two large bedrooms including a master suite with queen bed, sea views, balcony access, and additional reading/office nooks for relaxation or quiet time.

    Important Information:
    • A $500 refundable bond is required for your stay

    Linen Information:
    Bathroom and bedroom linen is supplied for your stay; however, only the required amount is provided based on guest numbers supplied at booking. If you would like beds made prior to arrival, please request this at the time of booking ($15 per bed, top bunks excluded due to OHS&W). Guests are responsible for advising the office of any special bedding configurations required. If no requests are made, bedding will be allocated based on guest numbers provided. Please remember to bring your own beach towels.

Lovely Stay.

Beautiful property, perfect location and view of the ocean and it had everything that we needed. Only downside was that when we got there in the evening, the keys were not left where the agent said it would be, ran around, trying to reach someone for over an hour! Apart from that, we had a wonderful time, thank you.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have rented Unnecessary several times and we enjoy staying there. Excellent location, and it caters for most of our needs. There were a few maintenance issues which need attending to. We were able to fix some like the up stairs fly wire screen and loose door knobs. This is the second time the gas bottle needed filling. I believe there is a new barbecue coming. We are looking forward to our stay in February.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house is a great size and layout for two families. The kitchen amenities were great with a lovely sea view from the kitchen sink. The interior needs a repaint and furniture is looking tired. The house could do with a good spring clean, dusting, & removal of mould in showers & mildew on bedroom blinds. Instructions for the heaters would be handy along with some warmer doonas for winter. If bringing a dog there is no shelter provided in the backyard. A clothes drier would be a good addition to the laundry. Overall it’s a good beach house but a bit overpriced.

Huge house with fantastic view

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed a week at 'Unnecessary' and loved every minute. The kitchen has plenty of utensils and cutlery, beds are comfy and the balcony is excellent. The upstairs toilet and bathroom is a strange design and you have to walk through the bedroom to get to the bathroom if the toilet is occupied, but that's a minor issue. There are some minor maintenance issues e.g. balcony sliding door comes off its rail and backdoor screen is ripped and cobwebby but again not a problem for us. Definitely recommend for a big group.

Beautiful location with great views

Great beachside location with a short walk to the main street of Robe. The house was well protected from the wind and provided wonderful views of the bay. Well equipped with cutlery, crockery and glasses, comfy beds with quality linen. We had a fabulous stay and would recommend.

this property suited us amazingly, location was absolutely amazing

We stayed 3 nights here and could of stayed so much longer. The location was spot on. The set out was perfect. Plenty of towels and linen. Very comfortable for 2 adults and 6 children.The kitchen was well stocked with cutlery and plenty of plates bowls and everything else you need. Down fall was no fire wood, when advertising a fire place. We chose this place because of the fire place, middle of winter. We supplied our own but it didnt last long and was expensive. Would of been a lovely touch to supply some coffee pods for the coffee machine there or atleast some instant coffee tea and sugar, just a basic. We didn't give much notice before checking in, communicating with property management over the weekend to book doesnt happen. That made things a bit stressful. But we had a fabulous time and will get this house again!!

Fantastic!

We recently stayed in Unnecessary for our daughter's wedding and it was perfect! Prior to the occasion I have imagined our house to be the gathering place for guests to join us for drinks on deck, meals or r cuppas and that's exactly what happened. The bright airy living room was so lovely on wedding day as hairdressers and beautician worked on bride and bridesmaids while looking over the beautiful blue sea. Ample parking and gateway to the fabulous Cliff Walk. Thanks also to Ottoson Real estate, in particular Hope who were great to deal with. A fantastic 5 days.

Nice property adgood locaton

We enjoyed our stay but there were some things that needed improving. Upon arrival we found the screen door to the main deck off and lying on the ground. I spent time reinstalling this. There was little to no wood for the fire (set it but did not light it). Most remotes had either flat or rmissing batteries. No tablets for the dishwasher - had to purchase. Several globes not working (wak in robe, entrance) BBQ very dirty (food items) and enough gas to cook small amount of breakfast the first morning, now empty. Heaters (Gas living room, downstairs) unable to get working, small electric heater supplied for bunk room. While tidy the house was dusty and could have used a quick clean before we arrived.

Fabulous, well appointed home with great views!

Two families of 4 stayed and we had a ball! Such an easy, well designed house. Kids loved the big bunk beds and the master bed room had great robes and view! Highly recommend.
