I stayed at Umi following a business trip, as I began a 4 day solo adventure.
Pros: excellent location, beautiful view, quiet surroundings, beautiful walk down to the black sand beach (though be weary - it is not so much a beach as a stream, but still beautiful), polite staff.
Cons: The noise in the hallway bordered on unbearable - people talking even in the most respectable way, carried and echoed all the way down the hall, and the doors did not close well so there was a lot of slamming. There is *technically* room service available, but there are NO PHONES in the room, so if you want any, you have to walk down to reception (which is literally beside the restaurant) and order it, which really defeats the purpose of room service (though to be fair the food was delicious), the hotel itself was more run down that the online photos suggest.
All in all, the location really made this stay for me, and the limited occupancy made parking and such always very easy. However, the hotel itself, and what it offered, was generally underwhelming. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't as unique an experience as I was hoping for.
