This is the oldest water balanced funicular still in operation in the United Kingdom. Doesn’t cost much to ride and the carriages are decked out with stained glass. There are some lovely views from the top out over the pier and coast.
It might not be the biggest pier but it’s beautifully preserved. The whole town of Saltburn-by-the-Sea is well worth a visit. It’s a traditional Victorian seaside town where you can enjoy the beach, sea and views. Really enjoyed visiting here today.

Managed by National Heritage, this is the largest standing remains on the extensive site of the 14th century church's east end, an outstanding example of early Gothic architecture. It was one of the first Augustine Priories to be built in England.

Guisborough

A view from the beach - the structure - a so-called "Vertical Pier", is not loved by all, but in some lights it looks good, and the view from the top is impressive.

Cleveland Street Trail near Skelton Green This photograph shows a view of the Cleveland Street Trail as it approaches its junction with Boosbeck Road (from where the picture was taken). The viewing direction was east-north-easterly - looking towards North Skelton.

Grinkle mine abandoned tramway It's hard to believe now, but this is the old tramway trackbed that ran from the mine to the harbour at Port Mulgrave. The line turned sharply to the right further down; it then crossed an embankment built to carry the line across the Easington Beck. The Ridge lane tram tunnel is situated just the other side of the embankment.
