"I had a really great stay at Villa Maïa in Lyon. The hotel sits up on Fourvière Hill, so the views over the city are absolutely beautiful, especially in the morning and at sunset. "Staff was excellent. But for a four star hotel I thought it was lacking. Small rooms. Pretty basic decor. One of the worst showers — barely a trickle, not hot, and drain backed up. Prices were elevated unreasonably (5€ a 33cl soda in the minibar, 8€ a beer). It wasn’t a bad experience. But for the price I paid I’d expect a better experience."

I loved the location of the Hotel. It is within 5 minutes of a weekend Farmers Market. There were lots of shops, restaurants and French Grocery stores near by. Walking is easy with several pedestrian bridges available for crossing the river. I will happily return in the future.."

"A very good place to stay for a couple of days in Lyon. It’s close to excellent restaurants and several points of interest that can easily be reached on foot.That said, be careful if you stay during the summer and the weather is very hot, as the rooms in this hotel do not have air conditioning, which can be a problem during high-temperature summers."

"Wonderful staff, very helpful and especially patient with other guests who didn’t know how to behave. Nice upgraded room with view of the river. Only problem was the elevator broke but the helped move our luggage down two flights of stairs. This is a great location if you are visiting old town. Everything is within walking distance. "I loved this hotel and the staff was absolutely amazing. Located just a block or two from shopping and the hotel has its own parking garage. Rooms have AC and the front desk has someone at it at all times. Staff was great and recommended things to do and how to get to them like the cathedral at the top of the hill overlooking the city of Lyon. "

The room fit and fondue do not reflect the price - layouts are quite strange, ie. no sink on the same floor as the toilet and shower. "The room may not be big but it is so well designed that it is very comfortable. The bed is very comfortable, the shower is very nice. I highly recommend splurging for a balcony. It is close to everything and the staff is very nice. "
