Overlooking the spectacular gulf dominated by the island of Tavolara, Olbia is the main tourist arrival point in northern Sardinia. In the centre stand out the medieval Basilica of San Simplicio and the Archaeological Museum, which displays finds from Nuragic artefacts to Roman warships, and on a hill just outside the city, with views over the gulf, the archaeological site Nuraghe Riu Mulinu. To accompany, a good Vermentino di Gallura DOCG is a must, and to finish a delicious seada with honey and a glass of artisanal myrtle liqueur.
