Top of the Mountain, 1 mile to Ski Area

Looking for a 5 STAR mountain getaway in luxury and style? Grab your skis and hiking gear and go to Bear’s Choice. Nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, this 5-bedroom custom-built home packages all the modern amenities of a resort with the conveniences of home.

Bear’s Choice is beautiful. It has hardwood floors and windowed cathedral ceilings donning a 15-foot stone gas hearth. It offers a fully stocked kitchen with granite counter tops and modern appliances, a dining area, and two spacious living areas including a wine bar and game room.

The gourmet kitchen is fully stocked with high quality cookware to serve and store meals for 10 people and includes a spice rack, microwave range, garbage disposal, 4-slot toaster, Keurig K-Duo Single Serve & Carafe™ coffee maker, and blender.

Overlooking the forest, it also has two partially covered decks, which include a 4-seat bar stool dining table, Weber grill, and Adirondack chairs for viewing the galaxies not hidden by city lights.

Bear’s Choice is comfortable. Three central HVAC units support the house, allowing visitors to control the temperature of their region of the house. In addition, all bedrooms and living spaces have ceiling fans. The house also has a laundry room with a large washer and dryer. Please note the living area is on the top level of the house and requires a staircase to access.

You will sleep well at Bear’s Choice offering 5 clean and comfortable bedrooms:

Upstairs has the Primary Bedroom 1, which has a king-sized bed, walk-in closet and large bathroom with a garden tub day spa and walk-in shower. A door leads to the outside deck for morning coffee and bird watching.

Upstairs also has Bedroom 2 with two twin beds and an adjacent full bath.

Downstairs has Bedroom 3 and Bedroom 4 with queen beds. Bedroom 5 has one full and one single bed. Downstairs offers a very large bathroom with towels provided.

There are indoor things to do at Bear’s Choice. Need internet WiFi and movies? Upstairs and downstairs, Bear’s Choice’s has got it, including 3 televisions all with cable TV and one with DVD.

Like Scrabble? Bear’s Choice has got that too, along with many other games, puzzles, dart boards, and books for family time.

Bear’s Choice is an ideal location, a 3-minute drive to Wintergreen Ski Area and Shamokin Springs Waterfalls and is less than 15 minutes from the Appalachian Trail, Lake Monocan, a public golf course, and numerous local wineries and breweries.

Be sure to stop along the Craft Beverage Trail (aka The Nelson 151 Trail), providing a convenient way to sample Nelson County's many wineries, cideries, distilleries and breweries all along scenic Route 151. There’s lots to see and do around Wintergreen for adults and kids alike!

Great spot for a family gathering

Ages ranged from almost 5 to almost 67. House was a great spot to hang out in inclement weather and a great location to access the skiing and nature center in the resort. We especially appreciated the well stocked kitchen since we cooked all our meals in.

Great place!

We were in town for a work expo. While the home was a little further from the event then we would prefer, the house was fantastic and worth the drive. This home housed our group with plenty of room to spare. Great spot, highly recommend!

Great house and super easy to get to slopes. All descriptions / images are spot on. Nice having 2 separate spaces so kids could be downstairs while adults were upstairs relaxing. Quite neighborhood. Would absolutely go again!

Bears Choice is a Great Choice!

Very clean. Just a few minutes from slopes and walking/hiking trails. Excellent instructions made check in and checkout a breeze. Excellent and timely communication with property manager prior to our arrival and during stay. We arrived with a little bit of snow on the ground and the walkways were all shoveled and the steps were salted down.

Great Stay

I rented the home for a mini vacay for a me and my girlfriends. The house is very welcoming, organized, and spacious with plenty of bedrooms and living space. Some unexpected snow arrived so we bunkered in for the weekend but the home very cozy with a fully stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, Wi-Fi, and a warm fireplace. There are instructions and labels everywhere (light switches, remote controls, thermostats, trash disposal, and check-out) which made it easy to figure things out. The location is close to the slopes (5 min drive) and peaceful. We had a super nice stay at this house and we would choose this house again for future visits!

What a Choice

Bear's Choice was a great home and a lovely stay for a short Thanksgiving break. The house is very clean and well appointed with very clear instructions on how to use the TV, Fireplace, etc. We would highly recommend this property and will stay there again.

Awesome place!

Our family recently stayed here for Fall Break and it was fantastic! It was probably one of the most well appointed places we have stayed in - from the kitchen to the quality of the bedding to the furniture to the grill, etc. It was a great location too - so close to multiple hiking trails. And the bedroom/bathroom set-up lends itself well to multiple families. Overall, just a fantastic experience!

Exactly what we needed and more

Bear’s Choice was the perfect Wintergreen property for our long weekend among dear friends. The home was spotlessly clean on arrival. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook for two families. Easy-to-follow laminated instructions (for TV and internet operation, thermostats, trash disposal, and check-out) were in plain view for easy access. Our kids loved the game closet and we all appreciated the list of nearby hikes and other activities. Thank you for making our weekend really special. We are already planning a return trip!
