  • "Shirl's Shores" is a 4 Bedroom, 2 bath classic beach bungalow, arranged with 2 bedrooms/1 bath on each side separated by a large open central living area. It is perfect for 1 or 2 families. SHIRL'S SHORES IS A 7 DAY, MINIMUM, SATURDAY TO SATURDAY ROTATION. Sleeps 8, with queen beds in 3 bedrooms and 2 twins in the 4th. This cottage has been owned by the same family since 1980 and has been enjoyed as a vacation site by many families and fishermen over the years. Previously, rented through a local agency, we manage it directly (retired and full time residents of Nags Head). We want you to enjoy a true beach experience. The location is ideal for beachcombers and nature lovers. (Milepost 21)-the southern side of S. Nags Head-close to the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center. Considering the ideal location, the rates are truly value priced. In keeping with the goal of "economy pricing", linens are not standard. Guests would bring their own sheets (3 queens, 2 twins) & towels. Bedspreads, pillows, blankets, and mattress pads are provided. We can direct you to local linen services, should you need them.

Enjoyed our stay! Great house and location. Shirley and Becky (hosts) provided great recommendations of where to eat and shop. Will try to book again next time we are at the OBX.

Wonderful experience for our first VRBO. Our check-in / check-out couldn't have been any easier. The house was clean and perfect size for our family. The host was super and made sure we had her cell number before we even arrived in case we needed something

Family time

Family Vacation

I booked the stay to celebrate my 50th birthday with my 3 kids (20, 18, 15) & my son’s girlfriend (also 18). We had a wonderful time. The location was perfect and convenient for relaxing, shopping, site seeing, and being on the beach. The house was cozy, stocked with kitchen equipment, and the washer and dryer were in perfect condition.

Rainy vacation

Located in South Nags Head a short drive to the main strip. The house layout was great with bedrooms and bath on each side separated by the living area. A short walk to the beach it was the perfect location. Unfortunately the weather was not our friend but I recommend this beach house for a Nags Head getaway.

Perfect!!

We stayed in the cottage for a week and it could not have been more perfect for us . The location is extremely convenient , away from all the hustle & bustle but just close enough if you needed to go anywhere for anything . Walking distance to the ocean which was great ! This place is beautiful and the neighborhood is clean and friendly ! These are some of the best hosts I’ve ever had ! Thank you for sharing your place with us ! We had an amazing time !

Nags Head Get Away

This is our second summer in this house. Steps to the beach, great layout in the house. My daughter and her family had their wing while my husband and I had ours. Big surprise this year was the new kitchen and island — everything was perfect. Becky and Shirley are the best hosts! Highly recommend.

Great location! Perfect Vacation Home!

This was our first time using the Home Away app. Everything went perfect. Excellent renters. They live close and met us at the home. Excellent communication prior to arrival, during, and after. It was a perfect home for our family of 4 and a dog. The home would be fine for more people too. Perfect location, nice neighborhood, and great place to walk, run, or ride bikes. Close enough to stores and restaurants but far enough from the congestion. Definitely would stay here again. Loved everything about our stay!

3rd year staying here

This was the third year our family stayed at Shirl's Shores. Communication is excellent. The house floor plan is great: open living room/kitchen/eat in island. Two bedrooms and a bathroom are on one side of the house and another two bedrooms and a bathroom on the other side. The kitchen has been recently updated with new cabinets and countertops - so pretty. It's a short stroll to the beach. The neighborhood is family/pet friendly. Restaurants and shopping is about 10 - 15 minutes away. The town of Duck is a little farther away but worth the trip to find all of the shops and bookstores. I recommend Shirl's Shores for a family friendly vacation.

Relaxing!

Shirl's Shores was perfect! Location was a short walk to the beach. Close to shopping for gifts and groceries. Plenty of room for 4 adults and our pets. Plenty of walking paths. The trip to see the wild horses on the beach at Corolla was wonderful. The weather was cool and windy but it didn't stop us enjoying OBX! The bedrooms were comfortable, kitchen stocked with what we needed to prepare our meals, no problems with wifi. Communication with owners and checkin was smooth. Neighborhood was quiet. I recommend Shirl's Shores to any family looking for a comfortable place to spend a week at OBX. We are already planning our trip for next year.
