"It was a nice hotel and service is generally very good. Felt like northern hospitality. Like how they don't charge service charge as standard on things like restaurant service. Rooms are quite spacious but views could be better. No mini fridge and no slippers as standard which I found surprising for a 5* hotel. Disappointed Bertams restaurant was closed when we visited so only had 2 options available. The setting is secluded which is very nice. Breakfast was OK...pretty standard but not...

" The hotel needs a complete refurb. The room allocated to us was of poor quality and standard. There was no wardrobe hanging space for ladies dresses and no drawers for storing other clothes. The plug was missing from the bath and the taps were dripping in the bathroom sink. The positive was that the staff were attentive and helpful and the food (breakfast) was excellent. We would not stay here again."

"10/10. Gorgeous hotel, fabulous spa area with sauna, steam room and whirlpools. Very very clean. Only downside was the thin walls of the hotel and a bridal party shouting in the halls at 6am but I would be stressed too so I’ll let them off :)"

"We stayed for a week over Christmas. The room was clean, comfy and fairly modern. The staff were amazing; helpful and respectful every time we spoke to them. "It was snowing when we arrived. The room was very cold because of no heating. I returned to reception, complained and the heating was connected, After a few hours the room heated up. At 2 am I woke up. The room was very cold and without heating. I called reception for more that 30 minutes but no one answered. In the morning I complained. The hotel answered that there was nothing that could be done. No shampoo in the room. I will not return. Not recommendable."
