Weekend getaway for my birthday, LOVED the house & had a great time!

This house was absolutely beautiful!!!! We enjoyed our stay & had a great time. Not that it was a big deal, but some of the window blinds were broke, chairs around the table had a broken leg or the bar in between the legs were broke & one outlet that I noticed along the wall (kitchen island) was not able to be used. I just wanted to note that but I would absolutely stay there again & that the house is absolutely beautiful.

Loved the Location but Room for Improvement to Make Spectactular

Loved the Location but consideration should be given towards improvement. Check in was delayed - had to make multiple contacts (owner/vrbo) to receive the check in code. Entry steps were super dangerous, had snowed, but no garage access for shovel or salt readily available to clear them properly or easier access for unloading vehicles. WIFI was non functional the entire 5 days we were there - tried troubleshooting with the owner to no avail. This became really problematic as it prevented some folks from being able to work remotely, tvs to work, or use of electronic devices phones/tablets during down time. Shower in the basement lacked hot water and one of the upstairs shower's water spewed eratically from the showerhead. 1/2 bath on the main floor had a loose bolt on the toilet base which made use of that bathroom quite tricky. The chairs in the dining room were dirty and very fragile - resolved to set them aside and completely avoid the use of them. Sofas in the living room were unlike anything we've seen - super umcomfortable due to wear. Sofas in the basement were also very worn and could use updating particularly as some folks aim to use these spaces for additional sleeping capacity. We had hoped to uitlize an extra room in the "over the garage" room however were dismayed to see a singular mattress on the floor that had soil stains. In cases like these - simply having an air mattress would be more beneficial and hygienic to renters. Lastly around the property we felt that there could be some things addressed. There were loose railings in the rear of the home and left over mops from prior stays on the side of the home - that we felt could use attention. This home certainly has potential but in it's current state it has a decreased potential for returning guets. These issues seemed to be at every turn and made an unfortunate disappointing impact on our stay!

The house was nice but needs a lot of cleaning inside and out. The overgrown brushes by the porch need cut back or removed. The house has a lot of space, and it is nice that we all had our own bathrooms and bedroom. Some of the bedrooms need the TV upgraded.

Great Property

This property was perfect for a party of 6. It was spacious and well taken care of. The only thing that was a bit inconvenient was there were no towels at all in the unit which wasn’t a huge deal being there was a Dollar General up the road we went and bought some. Overall the stay was great and we had an excellent time.

Good, could use some upgrades

The house is nice and has the potential to be great. Not all beds comfortable, lack of blankets Grill was dirty and not usable (there was a small charcoal grill that as usable) Mold in shower (in track and on shower curtain) Could use more seating for how large the space is. Owner was easy to work with and the grounds are great for work events

The previous reviews warned us about the cleaning issues so we did bring cleaning supplies with us and set our expectations accordingly. The counters and floors were not wiped, swept or vacuumed, so we did that upon arrival. The AC was perfect, once we opened up the vents on the floor and ceiling which were closed by previous guests. There were two thermostats to control the whole house (living room and behind door of 2nd floor master). Tons of space with extra beds and bathrooms to spare for our family of 9 + dog. Layout was perfect: basement had 2 bathrooms + queen bed, futon and pull out couch, above the garage was a 2 bedroom (with an extra mattress on the floor) + full bath and kitchenette area, main floor had 1 1/2 bath and a queen bedroom, 2nd floor had two queen master suites! The host was nice and answers our questions before arrival. Location is perfect, about a mile from Wisp. We used the pool table in the basement and fire pit in the backyard. All-in-all, we truly enjoyed our stay.

Lovely Property

The property is beautiful and ridiculously spacious!! We were so surprised that every bedroom was basically a suite with large, full bathrooms! I wish we would have been with a large group to enjoy it all fully! The kitchen is fabulous and the living area is gorgeous with massive windows and tall ceilings. The location is perfect! Quick drive ro everything but far enough from the noise of lake attractions. Definitely will return!

Great stay!

There was some confusion early on because VRBO had my number incorrect, but it was quickly communicated and corrected and the owner was super nice and sincere about making sure we had all the info we needed before arriving. The house is in a seriously great location. The pizza from the brewery up the road is amazing and we were close to the Shop N Save for any groceries we needed. Everything that we needed was at the house, except towels, but that was disclosed before we arrived so we came prepared. We had a comfortable stay and really enjoyed the peace of the location. Some of the showers had the hot and cold water switched, but as soon as we figured it out, no problems at all! However, the shower in the basement did not have a knob so we grabbed the pliers from upstairs and used those to turn the water on. The toilet on the main floor off of the living room is loose, so we avoided it as much as possible to prevent any damage, but it is still functional. There were just so many other bathrooms we could use so it wasn’t a big deal to our group at all. We had a “low-key” bachelorette party here and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to have it. Each bedroom has its own private bathroom, plus the extra bathroom off of the living room area. The property could use some outside maintenance and a deep clean, but it was not anything horrendous or anything like that. A lot of reviews reference outdated furniture, and that mostly just consisted of the older model TVs in the bedroom which wasn’t a big deal to us. We had a seriously great weekend trip here and would definitely return!

Needs TLC

Positives: In a great location; pet friendly, close to shops, restaurants, etc. There is a great restaurant, Mountain Brewery, within walking distance; plenty of room for everyone; and the neighborhood is very quiet. Negatives: This house is need of serious TLC; a deep clean is essential, floors are dirty, baseboards & walls are dusty, furniture is outdated and a few diningroom chairs are in need of repair or replacement; bathroom shower diverter broken in the basement shower; food was left in the refrigerator and left a terrible smell, so we got baking soda for it; dishes were left in the dishwasher; the WiFi is unsecured; towels were not provided (owner said it's COVID related and a policy in Deep Creek, but it's listed as provided), upstairs toilet would not shut off by itself; shower door in bedroom on main floor was broken; fan in upstairs bedroom doesn't work. Mattresses & pillows need replaced in all the rooms. As I said - a load of TLC would go a long way for this house. There were no "check-out instructions" except put trash in the bin at the end of driveway. Owner said there were "houserules" but we never received them. We would not rent it again, there are plenty of other choices at the lake.

Very Spacious beautiful house

This is a lovely home with a ton of room. The basement is a great place for the 'kids' to have their own area. I think there is a lot more than 3000 square feet as indicated. I would definitely stay here again. The owner took extra steps to make sure we were comfortable. When we arrived, it was 2 degrees outside, but he had the furnace set for 78, so it was very toasty inside.

Great location and house

We rented this place for a ski getaway. Great location, house was mostly clean (some areas were a little less clean but nothing bad), and the house was huge. Great accommodation for even up to 15 people. The biggest problem we had was that the host was really hard to get ahold of and I got the lock box code late. He was nice enough once he called back and explained there was some confusion. Preciously I had asked about towels and linens and the response took two days. One of the bathrooms (over the garage) did not have hot water and the shower was freezing. This was fine since there are 8 bathrooms and we just used another one the next day. Overall, it was a good place and we would consider staying again

Disappointed Stay

No TVs worked or would not connect to WIFI. No follow up regarding TVs working, only given password but the WIFI was not working so it was useless. Floors were not cleaned and all counter tops/tables were not cleaned. Looks like surfaces and floors were just swept of loose dirt and debris but not actually cleaned. I was not aware of bringing my own linen until later in the process of the reservation which was a big hassle with an entire family and the same excuse is because of COVID, but hotels do not ask me to bring my own linens.

Golf trip

We have a yearly golf trip to the Deep Creek area every year. The house was spacious enough to accommodate our group. The furniture is a little dated, but other than that everything was as advertised and good. We would definitely use the house again if available.

Maintenance required

I’ve stayed at various vrbo houses in Deep Creek for the past 12 years. This house has amazing potential! It had the privacy I’ve always wanted along with an excellent location. It was a short drive to the stores, shops, beach, and restaurants. The house was spacious and easily accommodated 12 people. It was very private with beautiful landscaping. I loved that we had space in the yard to throw a frisbee and let children run around without fear of traffic. The street was very quiet and peaceful. We took many walks down the road in the evenings. Each bedroom had its own private bath plus two guest bathrooms. Because of the spaciousness of the house, the bedrooms were quiet no matter who was awake at night or in the morning, so it was great for kids. However, there were many areas of the house that needed maintenance. The tv on the main floor did not work. The air conditioning in the upstairs, especially the in-law suite (which only had two vents), was lackluster to say the least. I stayed in the in-law suite and it was uncomfortably hot. There were many small repairs needed that, had they been fixed, could have greatly improved my impression of the house: bent curtain rods, drywall damage, grout damage in the guest bathroom, removal of old box TVs, working window handles to open the windows in in-law suite, better house cleaning, removal and replacement of broken couch, uncomfortable beds (especially in the basement), needs normal glassware, outdoor lighting, maintenance on the siding and decking of the back of the house, and fixed decking boards (some were popped up and a tripping hazard). I did not feel that the house was cleaner. For the cost per night, I expected a more well maintained house.

Not a good experience

To start off, when we first arrived the heat was on in the house while being 85° weather outside, which left the house hot for the next 12+ hours. Also, the AC in all rooms on the top level didn't work, which left all rooms upstairs at 80° all weekend. Upon arrival the water was turned off, which the women did call guys to come in and fix it quite quickly, but the water was brown and smelled like metal all weekend long. The next day there was an extremely disgusting odor in the house, much like a gas smell, and we contacted the owner to let her know of the smell and the AC and she stated “it is too expensive to send out any emergency services this late at night, could you do some investigating and let me know ” which we feel as if that was extremely unprofessional, since that is her property to maintain. We ended up leaving around 1AM the last day due to the horrendous smell which ended up being a carbon monoxide stench, which could have seriously injured all of us, since she in fact did not send out any emergency services. The house was gorgeous and location was great, but would not stay here again.

Owner is doing bare minimum

We checked in on a Saturday and were immediately hit with the smell of pine sol...however the house was completely filthy. A soaked towel attached to a Swiffer sat in the corner and it was very clear the cleaning solution had not been diluted in any way. The floors were sticky. The counters were sticky. The cabinets were sticky. There were confetti on floors that were shaped like men’s genitalia. The main floor bathroom toilet was clogged with what looked like Lysol wipes. None of the beds had blankets. Just mismatched sheets and pillow cases. We noticed early on that there were not enough towels or washcloths to accommodate our group. The ones that were there were mismatched, ripped, stained, and I'm pretty sure the washcloths were actually dish cloths. Make sure to bring everything from your own home. The kitchen is very limited in supplies and most of the appliances don't work. The main TV has sound but no picture. We went into the house knowing that the 2nd floor AC wasn't currently working. However, when we woke up Sunday the first floor AC was down, meaning we had no air conditioning and no help from the owner besides letting us know contractors were notified. It quickly became very warm and uncomfortable, but the owner just gave excuse after excuse offering no real solutions. The next day the sewage flooded the basement floor. There was actual feces on the floor!! We immediately notified the owner who sent over a contractor to fix the septic issue. These guys got the issue fixed but explained that they did not do clean up. We again tried to reach the owner who ignored us until I contacted VBRO who got a hold of her to send someone out to clean up the mess. I wasn't surprised when a young kid showed up, took an ice bucket from the cabinet in the kitchen and an almost empty bottle of pine sol to clean the mess. He dumped out what was left in that bottle on the floor and used the sewage water to mop the entire basement. Never once got new, clean water...nothing. This was entirely unacceptable! Not only did we have children with us, but my parents as well...and this was an absolute health hazard. We had no choice but to pack up and leave. Finding accommodations last minute for 6 adults and 3 kids was an absolute nightmare. The owner could have cared less and made it very clear we would not get any type of refund. All in all, I would not recommend this house to anyone. Especially knowing the biohazard of a mess left downstairs.

Unacceptable for anyone staying there

Our stay was less than 24 hours due to the condition of the rental..none of the tv’s worked except one and only had 1 station..the home was dirty,looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for a while..we had to wipe down the bathrooms and kitchen ourselves..the AC unit on the 2nd floor dripped all night causing water and carpet damage on the floor, the screened in porch was deplorable and filthy..called VRBO ago complain and got nowhere..we left at 10 am the next morning and had to rent another place…horrible

Air Force reunion

A gathering of Air Force buddies that have been together for 38 years and there families that get together every year somewhere. This year it was here. Beautiful area, so was the house until we walked in. Had to rewash the sheets because they smelled like throw up and alcohol, re-clean the house because the floor was sticky and confetti all over the floor and in the couches. There were only 3 blankets, not enough pillows for the beds, 3 towels and 2 wash clothes, had to go buy some towels,wash clothes and pillows. Could not use the back deck and outdoor furniture because of the dirt and bird poop, no outside lightning, had to use flashlights to get to the fire pit. Oh yeah the TV in the living room didn’t work. We were told before we got there that the upstairs AC was not working and a repair man was on the way, that was Saturday. He didn’t show up until Tuesday and back Wednesday and didn’t get it fixed. So we had no AC for the upstairs for the whole week.

Reunion

We enjoyed our stay very much, but the house was lacking in glassware and other kitchen stuff. Also, the dining room furniture and one of the couches really need to be replaced. The upstairs AC was broken, but the owner gave us a heads up and gave us early check in and late check out as a concession. With the cool nights, it really wasn’t an issue. Overall, it was a great stay. Just bring some extra glasses.

Cozy and secluded with beautiful views

I stayed here with a few friends for the weekend. This house easily accommodated 6 of us. We each had our own room and bed--plenty of space. If you are particular about your bed, you may want to bring a mattress pad as the beds are quite firm. The location is excellent, close to shops, food, and Wisp resort. This would be a great place to stay all four seasons. This is a beautiful home and very comfortable.

Perfect vacation home!

This house was exactly how it was listed. The check-in process and cleanliness of the property were impressive. Stephanie was reachable any time and also gave us tips for nearby attractions. My daughter forgot her writing journal and Stephanie was sweet enough to mail it back to us. Overall, can't expect anything more from a perfect vacation home. Highly recommend it!

Great stay

The house was very lovely and the area was beautiful. Some parts could use a repair or upgrades but otherwise it is a lovely home and I would stay here again.
