Unfortunate this review is needed

I made a reservation at this property but my plans unexpectedly changed and I had to cancel the reservation. Note that I gave notice soon enough to qualify for a full refund. I had several calls into VRBO customer service to help with the cancelation and they reached out to the property owner/manager but they were unresponsive. No communication at all from the host. VRBO customer service said I should submit a claim to my credit card company to get a refund as they were unable to connect for any communication with the host. I now have been given a negative review by the host and it is unfortunate that I need to respond to this negative review on my profile. I followed all of the rules and regulations but an uncommunicative host can still hurt you. Unfortunate.

Beware, it was so bad we couldn't stay.

We arrived at the property and couldn't stay because it was dirty and smelled of mold and body odour. Stained furniture, hair on the bed, balcony overlooking dumping area behind building, area felt unsafe. The circle that hints where the property is was deceiving. This is the first time this has happened when using VRBO. We contacted the host immediately and got an automatic type response, we send photos and description as asked and then received the same canned response so we knew weren't talking to a person and had to scramble and find another place to stay. We contacted VRBO to let them know what was happening and followed the protocols and took photos and filed withing 24 hours, also cancelled property through VRBO customer service and have filed with them for a refund under the VRBO Confidence Guarantee.
