“Pura Vida” is Spanish for “pure life,” a philosophy that encourages the appreciation of life’s simple treasures. Start with the morning sun bathing the hills across the lake in golden color & watch the drama of a brief afternoon storm pass, leaving the air clean & fresh. Enjoy the haunting calls of the loons, the lake breezes & sounds of the waves against the sea wall. Laugh around the table, savoring a meal with loved ones. Relax by a bonfire & watch the stunning colors of sunset bleed into the deep sapphire of twilight as the stars twinkle. In the colder months, snuggle up by the cozy fireplace & relax to the view & sounds of the waves outside. Curl up in a comfortable bed and sink into slumber, ready for the next day's adventures. There's something kind of magical about the light, the breeze, & the sound of the water here. Pura vida!

PETS: No pet fees for visiting dogs! However, it is required that all dogs including day visitors *must be disclosed* when booking, & guests must adhere to the pet rules & maximum dog numbers. No other pets permitted; particularly no cats due to family allergies. Dog visit requirements: Maximum of 2 dogs total including day visitors, <75 pounds each, must be up to date on all vaccines & especially flea/tick treatment prevention, *dogs are not allowed on the beds/furniture, *dogs must be crated if left alone in the house (or else must accompany owners when going out), all poop must be disposed of appropriately.

While life on the lake is most magical during the warmer months, the cottage is snug throughout the year & provides a front row seat to the natural dramatic beauty of winter storms on the lake. The beautiful indoor gas fireplace makes it even more cozy! Some guests have even likened a visit here to staying on a boat (minus the rocking!) with the sound of the waves heard from even inside the house!

Just 2 steps up to the front door from the gravel parking area & no cliffs or long staircases to navigate. Step out onto the over-water deck from the house, with a few additional short steps down to the dock & water. You'll be drawn there over morning coffee, to bask in sun & lake breeze, for a sunset libation, or to stargaze over hot chocolate!

The open kitchen/LR on the main floor is full of light. Also on the first floor are 2 bedrooms (BR1 has 1 queen; BR2 is small but has a bunk bed) & a full bath. Please note that while sturdy, maximum bunk occupancy is either 2 adults (1 each level) or 3 children. An open staircase leads to a second floor with a half bathroom & loft-style open space with a queen bed. Beds have comfortable memory foam mattresses. Recently updated decor features a comfort-oriented, eclectic, contemporary style. The house is small in square footage, but comfy & well-appointed (think urban loft meets peaceful lake cottage). Eco bonus: Heat and AC is provided by an efficient heat-pump system & all electricity supplied to the property is 100% solar generated, purchased from a nearby solar farm. Aside from the gas fireplace & range, the house is run by the sun!

Please note, because of idiosyncrasies of our right-on-the-water location & county waste water system restrictions, the house does not have a washer/dryer or dishwasher. Property outdoor amenities like the watercraft & some outdoor furniture are seasonally stored & *not available* during colder months (usually late Oct to mid May; exact dates are weather dependent & not guaranteed).

PARKING is limited. There is room to park *3 regular cars* OR *a combo of 1 large pickup/SUV with 1 car* on the property. Over-parking will prevent normal traffic flow on the one lane road & is not permitted - violators may be towed. Please message us to discuss options for overflow vehicles.

CHECK-IN: Check in after 4:00 pm; check out by 10:00 AM. We genuinely empathize with the challenges of travel logistics & wish that we could accommodate alternatives, but the scheduled times that we must guarantee our cleaners do not permit early arrivals or late departures.

OCCUPANCY: Property use is strictly limited to the maximum occupancy of 6 registered guests. We will consider authorizing small numbers of occasional/temporary day visitors, but no parties, reunions, or sustained use of the property by unregistered visitors - we are not able to accommodate consistent extras or larger numbers of people because of off-grid septic logistics, general space limitations, parking & other neighborhood impacts. Please message us to discuss if having day visitors are part of your travel plans. Any approved visitors must abide by all house rules, including speed limits & parking restrictions.

WILDLIFE/INSECTS/SPIDERS: Critters are a natural part of lake life & a healthy ecosystem. We do our very best to keep them out of the house, but because we are so close to an important water source, use of chemical sprays must ethically & legally be limited due to environmental impacts. To reduce the numbers that sneak inside, seal up food & make sure to keep doors & screens closed, especially at night.

BOATING: Overnight in-water docking is not allowed as Cayuga Lake is a big lake with a lot of fetch; waves can be large & unpredictable and conditions change quickly. **When not directly observed, boats/PWC must either be on the hoist or stored on their trailer.** If you wish to rent a motorboat during your stay, boat rental companies will often deliver by water directly to the cottage & pop the boat right into the hoist for you! V-hull motorboats & PWC only; hoist cannot accommodate pontoon boats, sailboats or catamaran/trimarans. If you have a larger boat (>22’ hull) please message us with your boat type prior to booking so we can determine if it will fit safely in the hoist. Use of the boat hoist must be requested & agreed to by us >7 days prior to arrival or it will not be powered & available for use. Any guest wishing to use the hoist must be fully responsible for its safe use; on-site training is not available. *No guaranteed space for on-site trailer storage - message us to discuss options. Prior boaters have had very positive experiences with both the Long Point State Park (to the north) or nearby Don’s Marina (to the south) launches. *Hoist access is a courtesy only*; The hoist is very reliable but in the unlikely event that it is not available for any particular booking due to damage/malfunction/service delays, guests will need to store the boat on its trailer (or return rentals to rental facility) and re-launch daily.

Nice cozy place sitting right on the lake. I loved every morning drinking my coffee, sitting by the fire looking out over the lake. Very quiet neighborhood and the people we ran into were very friendly. The entire house was clean upon arrival and well stocked. Communication with the owners went very well. Great place to relax and take in nature!

The property is a "find". Charming house, decorated with thought and style. The location is ideal, and the attached deck and dock allow for peaceful and beautiful sunsets and views.Owners are resposive and really work to make sure tenants enjoy their time in the house. On top of this, we are able to bring our four-leggers who also "love" the house!! Couldn't ask for more!!

My family and I had a wonderful week-long get away at this beautiful lakeside cottage! It more than delivered as advertised. We particularly enjoyed the easy access for swimming and kayaking as well as the most amazing sunsets every evening. The kitchen had everything you'd want - ample cookware and, however you like to make your coffee or tea, they have the kitchen gadget you need! The mini-split cooling system also kept the cottage cool, particularly for sleeping at night. It was the relaxing vacation we needed! Thank you, Don and Michele, for being such excellent hosts. Cayuga Lake is beautiful!

My family and I have been to Pura Vida Cottage many times! The cottage is exactly as pictured, very clean and the kitchen has everything you need. The fishing is fantastic and they provide kayaks (adult and child), paddle boards, tubes, a rowboat and life jackets. The swimming is awesome too. Don and Michelle are absolutely great and respond quickly to questions. The local property manager is also fantastic. The area is beautiful and there are breweries and hiking trails close by should you want to leave the cottage. Thanks, Don and Michelle. See you next year!

Excellent getaway

We had a wonderful time at the cottage. Being so close to the lake allowed for a quick dip followed by a relaxing day on the deck with a beautiful view. Being allowed to bring our pets was an added bonus. The hosts responded quickly to our questions and made us feel at home. The cottage was clean and had everything needed for our stay. I highly recommend this jewel of a home.

Repeat guests of these cottages!

We are repeat guests of these hosts, and we have excellent vacations and reunions in their properties. Access to the lake is easy and immediate. All of the recreational vehicles and safety equipment are easy to access, safe, clean, and fun! Communication with the hosts is always clear. They really set up their guests for success with an excellent local binder, a small amount of easy vacation reading materials and games for adults and kids, well-appointed furniture, and a well-stocked kitchen in terms of equipment, gadgets, and utensils. We have stayed in their cottages for two summers in a row, and plan to do so in the future!

Beautiful lakefront experience

Wonderful location. The house is in excellent shape and very well equipped. We really enjoyed our stay and would rent this property again.

Birthday Treat

Lovely property, comfortable, relaxing, and well equipped. We all loved it including our two dogs. Room for crates for both dogs, really nice touch supplying a crate. The weather did not cooperate, but chilling in front of the gas fireplace overlooking one of our favorite lakes in the region was a perfect way to relax.Location close to 3 vineyards and a brewery. Friday night trivia at Treleaven winery was a lot of fun.Detailed instructions to help make the stay easy and help to fit into small local community.Would definitely come back to spend more time in the property with better weather to also take advantage of the lake.Thoughly recommend

Weekend Getaway

Amazing weekend. Hiking, boating, kayaking, hit a few wineries and brewery. Dick and sunsets were amazing.

Lovely shore cottage

We enjoyed staying at this cottage which is directly on the lake and offers great sunset views. The cottage is comfortable and clean and offers all the conveniences you want. We recommend this rental for anyone looking to stay on Cayuga Lake.

Great location on the lake!

The proximity to the lake can't be beat and the decks were really nice. We visited in October, so we did not swim or kayak, but that would be nice for the summer. Our only complaint was a musty smell in the cottage.

Great property!

We had a delightful two-week stay here. The living area is cozy — perhaps even a bit small for more than two or three people—but very comfortable. Kitchen is roomy and well equipped. And morning coffee or evening wine on the large deck can’t be beat. The property manager, Sally, and the host,Don, immediately and cheerfully addressed a small problem with a clogged sink drain. There’s lots of interesting history in the area, and the cottage location, almost midway between Ithaca and Auburn, makes exploration easy. If we were to return to the Finger Lakes, staying here would be a high priority.
