"The cottage was very clean and full of household items ready for use. It's a good thing i wake up around 5am because there's a Brahma (seemed like it) rooster next door that helps with the wake up process, hehehe. No need to set your alarm on your phone. The place was breezy once I opened all the windows. Truly a Hawaii experience. Thank you host!"

"Nice owners, pristine accommodations, very safe rural neighborhood, beautiful landscaping. We only stayed one night on our way to see friends, also visiting the big island. So we didn’t explore the area much. But it’s not far from the volcano and even closer to the hot springs and petrified forest."

"We arrived well past dark and in the rain. The property was easy enough to locate and access. After a day of traveling, we (2 adults, 2 teens) all appreciated the cold a/c and clean place to settle for the night. "Great stay, only thing to note is the house doesn’t have A/C (I don’t think a lot of the houses on the Hilo side have A/C) but we were comfortable every night with the fans blowing and doors open. We didn’t have neighbors until the last night of our stay but keep in mind this is a bottom unit of a house, so there may be neighbors above. Very clean and well maintained home."

"Think of it as luxury camping and you'll be happy. If your idea of comfort is umbrella drinks by the pool, you will not. Personally, I loved it. But it's not for everyone.
This is a rustic cabin in the jungle. 4.5 miles off the main road, 2.2 miles of it is dirt (well maintained, regular cars not a problem). 15 minute drive to nearest civilization (the part of the description being in the middle of a historic town is inaccurate - it's 7 miles outside a historic town).
