"We’ve used Hotels.com for years and have always had good experiences — until now. This particular booking was deeply disappointing. The apartment was nothing like the listing described, and certainly not worthy of the 5-star rating shown on the site. It was damp, smelled musty, and there were visible signs of moisture damage — possibly even mold.
We tried to contact both the property and Hotels.com during the stay. The property never responded, and despite our detailed complaint, Hotels.com...

"Maison Lamartine was an excellent stay in Nice. But a short walk to the beach, the property is immaculate. The staff is super welcoming and friendly.
The only thing that we regret is we had to take breakfast in a hurry, as we had a train to catch. The breakfast was full of local and fresh pastries, jams, and cheeses. We wish we could have enjoyed a two hour breakfast.
The place is top notch and will gladly return."

"The room was quite big! It was very clean with nice amenities and high quality products (soaps, coffee machine, etc.). The street is bustling and has many nice restaurants, and there is also a tram station nearby. The beach is also nearby. The front desk associates were very helpful and willing to book tour packages and recommend things to do. Elevator was malfunctioning for some time and we had to haul luggage up the stairs, but it was okay."

"We missed our connecting flight and lost the money for the first night for no fault of our own. We let them know as soon as we found out but they would not credit it. We had to beg for 2 hrs late checkout! That was frustrating.
Location is nice.
They have an arrangement for breakfast at the hotel across the street and the breakfast was the highlight of the one night stay!"
