My fiancé and I recently booked this property for our engagement weekend on 2/15-216. Unfortunately, our experience was far from what we had anticipated, and I would like to bring this matter to your attention.This was my fiancé’s first time using VRBO, and we were looking forward to celebrating such an important occasion. We arrived at the property at 10:30 PM, well after the check-in time of 4:00 PM. Upon arrival, the property owners opened the door and were clearly still present in the space. They informed us that they hadn’t expected us and needed “just a minute to make the bed.” This felt extremely uncomfortable and unsanitary, as we had rented the entire space for our use and did not expect to encounter anyone lounging in the room we had reserved, especially so close to our check-in.Furthermore, at no point prior to our arrival did the owners send us a message or attempt to contact us through the VRBO app to check if we were still coming. If they hadn’t expected us, at the very least they could have reached out to confirm our arrival time. This lack of communication compounded the uncomfortable situation and left us feeling both unwelcome and frustrated.Given the circumstances, we felt it was best to leave and find alternative accommodations, which led to a 3-hour drive to secure lodging at nearly 2:00 AM. This experience was incredibly upsetting to my fiancé, especially as it was meant to be a special weekend for us and her first VRBO booking.
