The Star Party program (~ 2 hours, depending on weather & crowd size) is fun for the entire family, and is open to everyone (reservations are nearly always required as this program frequently sells out.) Enjoy night sky constellation tours and views of celestial objects through a number of telescopes (varying in size up to a 24-inch Ritchey–Chrétien telescope) in the Rebecca Gale Telescope Park at the Visitors Center (i.e., NOT at the research telescopes at the top of our peaks) every Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday evening (schedule varies during the end-of-the-year holidays and Spring Break). Those with mobility issues, please note the distances involved with participating in the Star Party. There is a slight incline over that distance from the Center all the way through the Telescope Park to the Amphitheater with that latter structure being ~ 20 feet higher than the Center's front doors

"Did a long weekend in West Texas and spent a few nights here in this super comfy storage container. Arrival was a breeze since the host had a full online pamphlet with all the details. The room was very clean and had all the major necessities. The upstairs provided a great spot to watch the sunset over the mountains. There are a few Alpine restaurants nearby and coffee shops. "Everything simply magical about this place. We came for a frigid weekend and I was worried we wouldn’t be warm enough but when we arrived at the property the lights and heat were on, fun music was playing and we felt so immediately welcomed! The only small criticism I have is that the lockbox to get in while charming is incredibly difficult to use. We arrived very late after an 8 hour journey, cold and tired, and just wanted in but it took us a good 15 minutes to open the lockbox. "
