K'gari (Fraser Island) is accessible by 4WD only and a Vehicle Access Permit will be required from QPWS BEFORE arriving on the island. You need a 4WD to access the island and onto the barges, so you won't be able to stay at The Taxi House unless you have a 4WD

FRASER ISLAND

All roads on K'Gari (Fraser Island) are sand roads as well as driving along the beach so you will require a 4WD to board the barge before even arriving to the island.

Eurong is central (and not tide relevant) to a number of the most beautiful lakes (eg Lake McKenzie, Lake Birrabeen, Lake Boomanjin, Lake Wabby), lush rainforests (eg Central Station) and pure crystal clear creeks (eg palm and fern lined Central Station (Wanggoolba Creek), and the numerous bushwalking trails.
You can enjoy the beauty of the island ranging from desert-like sandblows, unique and awe-inspiring lakes, exploring the many scenic drives on the island, 4WD adventures, and along the eastern beach some attractions are Eli Creek, the shipwreck of the Maheno, Indian Head and Champagne Pools, the coloured sands and all the way to the lighthouse at the far northern tip of the island. During your stay you may get to experience and see some of the wonderful wildlife on the island including turtles, whales, dolphins, stingrays, sharks, dingoes (said to be Australia's purest), and the wonderful birdlife.

*We, Steve and Lisa, live in a small cottage at the back of the property, with a separate entrance and do not share any of the house facilities. We will always be happy to share our extensive knowledge of the island with you!

The Taxi House was amazing!!! The house is large enough for a couple of families or a group like we had. Plenty of bedrooms with the 2 sleepouts. Nice sized kitchen & being in Eurong 2nd valley, it was super close to the resort for food options if/when required & is also close to the access for the inland tracks. The house was clea & tidy. The area is very quiet so great to sit back & relax. Easy walk to the beach for fishing.

Host Lisa very friendly and organised linen at short notice as we had forgotten to order. Lovely old beach house with a great view from the seating on the front porch. Inside the kitchen was well equipped for self catering.

The location was good. The pool was full of leaves. The outside gardens and yard area are an absolute disgrace. Overgrown gardens littered with food scraps and rubbish. No pride in outside areas at all. Trees and gardens need trimming. The laundry area downstairs was dark and you had to duck to get under the house into the laundry area. The waste water from toilets leaked and was coming out of the ground right in front of clothes line. The stench was putrid. Washing machine full of sand. BBQ didnt work and no outside light to cook a BBQ at night. There's an old rusted BBQ out the front that should be removed. Oven didn't work properly. Some powerpoints didn't work. This house and pictures on website are not an accurate reflection of the actual property. It was a disappointment and would not recommend this house. Not worth the money we paid for it. We are frequent visitors to Fraser and took friends for the first time to Fraser. Not a great experience. Hoping this honest review gets posted.

Taxi house Eurong K’gari

Beautiful house, facilities clean, communication from owner was clear and helped our stay be so relaxed. It’s in a beautiful part of the world and close to everything. I would recommend taxi house to any of my friends and family without hesitation.

Wasnt as advertised but still good stay

Check in was from 2pm, we were there at 1:50- waited past 2pm, We called owner and she rocked up about 2:15. She then had to clean it and look through the place. By the time we got into property it was almost 3pm. The house was clean enough, but all the dishes were dirty, we had to wash everything. We were then notified the pool had a leak, it was quite a large leak, which we felt would have been picked up earlier. Lisa chucked a hose in, but it was filthy. So no real use. Disappointed. For what we paid for the two nights we would have liked it fully up to standards.Aside from that its a great location and quick walk to the pub!
