After seeing online photos for Field Guide Lodge, we splurged $800/night for our 30th Anniversary. Unfortunately, anticipation quickly faded. We arrived at 2 PM and were told to return at 3 PM. When we returned at 3 PM, our room wasn't ready with no apology—yet we watched another guest arrive early and get welcomed to check in. Our "queen" room felt like a cramped double. The bed was extremely low, lumpy, and dipped in the middle. The room was very dark; even with lights on, we needed phone flashlights to see. The shower was so tight an average person can't turn around without hitting the wall.The toilet was also very close to the wall and had cheap single-ply paper. Cleanliness was a major issue with heavy dust on the dresser, nightstands, and lights, plus unkempt floors. Breakfast doesn't start until 8 AM, and morning coffee tasted left out overnight. The lobby decor is nice, but poor comfort and cleanliness made us eager to leave.
