Thistle Street [401]

Located in the heart of Edinburgh's New Town, Thistle Street offers the best of city centre living. This lively and vibrant cobbled street has pretty Georgian architecture and an excellent range of restaurants, cafes and bars as well as designer shops. Most of Edinburgh’s sights are within easy walking distance and a number of bus routes pass close by should one wish to go further afield.

The two bedroom apartment is on the first floor of a stylish conversion of an old auction house. It offers plenty of space which has been thoughtfully equipped and decorated to provide an extremely comfortable base for visitors to the city.

A large entrance hallway has rooms radiating off it and leads to a wonderful kitchen living area. The wooden floored sitting area has been tastefully furnished with large sofas bedecked with colourful cushions which have been arranged around a large low table. Plenty of shelving houses a selection of books, a TV and DVD Player and the walls have an attractive array of pictures and paintings. A living flame gas fire offers a cosy focal point on a chilly evening. There is a desk and Wi-Fi is available should this be required.

A stunningly large kitchen has an excellent collection of crockery, cookware glasses and cutlery should guests wish to eat in and is appointed with an electric oven and gas hob, microwave, coffee machine, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. A large table in the centre of the rooms provides seating for 6 people.

The master bedroom is to the front of the property and has a king size bed and is furnished with chest of drawers, wardrobe, bedside table and lamps. This room has the benefit of a good sized en-suite shower room with shower, WC and wash hand basin.

The pretty second bedroom is to the rear of the property and, again, offers plenty of hanging and storage space.

A large crisp white bathroom with bath and shower over, WC and wash hand basin and good lighting and mirrors completes the accommodation.

Exterior

Due to the rules of the factors of this building, we are not permitted to have a key safe at this property. We therefore use a nearby Key Nest facility for the key collection. As a result, it is very important that you let us know how you are travelling to Edinburgh, and your expected time of arrival, so we can choose the most convenient place for you to pick up the keys. The options are Waverley train station or a small convenience store on Frederick Street (just around the corner!) You will be sent a Key Nest code 48 hours prior to your arrival which you will need to quote to the member of staff at the Key Nest facility to obtain the keys.

5 nights in this superb apartment. Very large apartment (maybe 1500 sq. Ft). Well appointed. Fantastic location. About the only downside is the nighttime street noise from the pubs emptying out at 2-3 am. Lots of loud drunk folks.

This property is very well situated. We walked to many of the sites we wanted to see while in Edinburgh, and those that were further afield, such as the Royal Yacht, we walked to the nearby tram stop. The property was very clean and spacious and well appointed. The manager was helpful and very quick to respond to our questions. If you're looking for a place to stay in the heart of Edinburgh, I recommend it!

The property is beautiful, clean, warm and homely a absolutely perfect base. However take ear plugs, the bins to the bars and restaurants start getting emptied everyday from 3am until 7am and it’s exceedingly noisy!

We absolutely loved our stay in this property. The location is fantastic - within a 10 minute walk of pretty much everything in the city centre, but on a charming street that feels a little removed from the hustle and bustle. The flat is spacious, comfortable and very well presented. The communication with the property management company was excellent throughout - and at my request they also arranged for champagne and decorations on arrival as it was my partner’s birthday. I’d definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay. Very spacious and comfortable. It is definitely noisy at night, moreso on weekends, but otherwise very good location. The property manager was great about communicating everything and accommodating a better location for key pickup.

Great location, very spacious, would be great for 2 couples. Nights were noisy due to restaurants and refuse collections. Nothing earplugs couldn't fix. No Netflix or any streaming service, no DVD player. Really large well equipped kitchen

We loved the apartment. Clean, roomy and had everything you might need. It was conveniently located, lots of restaurants. Grocery if you needed it. The city noise and lights are pretty much a given but the apartment does have curtains to dampen noise and light. All in all a great stay-would absolutely visit again.

The apartment is in an excellent location for tourists. It is so close to everything in the city and in a relatively quiet neighborhood close to excellent restaurants. The apartment had excellent amenities and was very clean. The hosts were very responsive to our needs. I highly recommend this apartment if you need a place In Edinburgh.

Lovely apartment with a spacious living room and a large well outfitted eat in kitchen. Very clean. Good for a small family, 2 bedroom, 2 bath. They were very accommodating about getting in a little earlier than check in time. Excellent instructions about getting in as well. Excellent local eateries. The only downside is a bit of street noise from those excellent eateries. A fair trade for us.

Negatives were lack of shower door in family bathroom and noise of bottle recycle bins being filled and emptied at 6am onwards just outside (one level below). The positives however were the wonderfully large and spacious lounge, well equipped kitchen and superb location only a couple of minutes walk to George St and Princes St. But for the lack of shower door and early morning noise we would have given 5 star.
