"The staff at Valdelana were fantastic. In October, restaurants are not always open but the hotel staff were informative. There are not dependable taxis in Elciego so it is great if you have a car. The cellar tour and tasting is not to be missed. I will stay here again and again."

"El Retiro del Obispo is a paradise in the middle of La Rioja area. If you love wine, good food, good people, this is the place to stay. Easy parking next door. The town is very small, you can walk it in 5 mins but on the other end, my G-d, the view is breathtaking. Terri, the owner is just exceptional. We went and unfortunately our little girl was sick and she was nothing but excellent. Very understanding, accommodating, helping us. El Retiro del Obispo is the place to stay. "

"This is a lovely house in a beautiful walled village. The owner met us at the house and even took the time to give us a tour of his wine cellar on our first night. It was a great location for visiting the Rioja region with many places to visit nearby. The house was perfect for three families sharing with teenagers. There were two bars in the village."
