"We had to check in late as our train was delayed. Unfortunately the guest house is not staffed after 11:30pm. So we had to pay extra for a late check in. The staff wasn’t friendly or welcoming. He was instead racist as he was asking where we were from and when we informed him he said no wonder. I wondered what that statement meant. The room was quite dusty. "All perfect except no gym! Not right for sucha standing hotel"

"Lovely restored house in a neighborhood (more like a B&B). There is a bus that runs into Edinburgh proper or you can take the mile walk. The hotel gives very good recommendations for local dining. Parking can be difficult (limited on-street parking for non-residents). No eating in the rooms."

"I loved my stay at the Brae. It was the perfect place to get over jet lag as I embarked on a one-month vacation of the U.K. It’s a couple of miles outside of town, and the bus to downtown stops right in front of the house, which was perfect. Very comfortable for sleeping. Having a bath tub to soak in after a day full of walking was heaven. Graeme was an extremely welcoming and informative host. "Everything was clean. I loved my room. It’s not the most updated place in the world, but it had its own charm. It’s warm and inviting. The staff was great, and had good suggestions for tours. It’s kind of a pain not having anything nearby. No convenience stores or coffee shops. You have to take a train or Uber. I tried the connected restaurant twice and did not care for it. It’ll do though with nothing else around. Overall, it was a good value and I felt safe and comfortable"
