"Food is excellent but dinner service was very slow. Hotel is a little dated. The bedside, round 3 pin plug sockets are useless unless you have appliances with old style plugs or an adapter. Toilet cistern was leaking and there was a small leak on the towel radiator. The seal on the shower screen was not in contact with the bath top, so floor became wet through after taking a shower. Lots of plastic flowers adorned the hotel. Hotel is very well located if you plan to visit Beamish museum."

Our room, third floor looking over the car park, had countryside views and we could hear very little road noise even with the window open. "Fantastic location. Ideal for what we needed but also really rural-feeling and peaceful. We found it quiet and charming. We enjoyed wandering in amongst the old orchard and down through the copse, across the scrubland that forms part of the floodplain of the Tyne. It was good to know there are badgers around although we weren’t lucky enough to see anyway. The dawn chorus was impressive. Very pleasant indeed. Definitely will book again if we’re back in the area. "
