"We were in town mainly to visit nearby Port Isaac (because we loved the Doc Martin series). If you don't mind the steep hill, you can walk from one town to the other in about 15 minutes, and the Port Gaverne hotel was relatively affordable. We had a good dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, and the staff was friendly. The only thing we'd mention is that we were on the top floor, which had nice views but is up an extremely narrow and steep staircase. So if you couldn't make that climb, be sure...

"Really lovely one night stay whilst we had a special meal in Padstow. We had a garden room which meant you had a sea view and small terrace - the downside was that in the morning we were underneath the breakfast room and it was quite noisy from just before 8am which on a Sunday was a bit annoying. The room was beautifully decorated and spacious, the windows and patio door were a bit drafty though as it was a stormy night. It could do with thick curtains to pull across but there were just wooden...
