"The location was excellent and the staff were helpful. Unfortunately, my room was dirty. There was dust everywhere and the pillow cases on my bed were dirty. I was able to find a housekeeper and she immediately came to give me clean sheets and pillow cases. The WiFi wasn't working which was a bit frustrating when phone service was limited inside parts of the building. Despite the minor we enjoyed our stay but unfortunately next trip we will seek other accommodations ."

"Having stayed in the lovely Swissotel Bosphorus/Istanbul, I was hesitant to compare Swissotel experience & hope Chicago would be as good. No. Not even close.
The elevated Swissotel brand is not represented here well in this building at all. The valet is $87! Self park is $70 and the self park area doesn’t even have an elevator up to the lobby, you have to walk through a dark, confusing, and claustrophobic garage to stairs then to elevator. Staff were tactful & kind, it’s just the building is...

"The hotel looks really cool as it’s really old. The rooms are very basic, a coffee maker and a tiny tv. The south tower is right on the train line so it can be noisy with the train rattling past. The staff was nice. We didn’t use many of the amenities (like restaurants) so I can’t comment on them. The location is great for touring around Chicago as you’re right downtown on Michigan Ave"

"i really liked the location of this hotel, we paid almost $300 for a room. we are an older couple and expect some value for the money that we pay for accommodations. we had several issues with the lodging-we had a random loud scraping noise that persisted ALL night long, so no one slept. The noise sounded like it was coming from inside the walls, not from an outside source. No phone in the room to call the front desk, and the phone company was telling me that the number of the hotel listed on...

"This is a contemporary “hip” hotel. The lobby has a bar and lots of seating, a fireplace and pool table. Contemporary furniture throughout. Snacks, drinks and breakfast are in the open space of the lobby. This is not a quiet hotel. Music plays 24/7 in the lobby. In the evenings it is quite loud. Think disco night. If this is not your vibe I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
This hotel is across the street from Lavin Pavilion of Northwestern Memorial Hospital and a variety of restaurants...

"My mom and I decided to do a girl’s trip to Chicago, and River Hotel was one of the best decisions we made. The staff were so friendly, the rooms were clean, and there were plenty of amenities. My mom especially loved the complimentary Nespresso in our room. My only qualm with the hotel was how thin the walls were at our hotel. We could hear the neighbors, though muffled. It’s an older hotel, to be frank. "
