Spacious Family Refuge

My sisters and I rent a large house in the Vermilion/Sandusky area each year with our parents. This area is in between our four total families’ residences. In all these years, this has been by far the very best experience we have had. Amherst is PERFECT with so much to offer for children of all ages, though truthfully we rarely left the house. It offered absolutely everything we needed for a fully inclusive stay-in experience! Home theater, ping pong table, darts, and games for rainy indoor days and the most incredible outdoor pool/deck/bar area you could ever imagine! Our children of all ages swam sun up to sun down. We gathered on the deck all evening with the fire pit and night swims. The house was immaculate, top to bottom, and the property managers responded immediately if I had any questions. We went to the very local store, grabbed stuff for meals, and never left! It was like a family friendly all inclusive resort. We have already requested to book it for next year. Best experience ever. .

Worst vrbo experience i have ever had

Rating: 1/5 I'm writing this review as a warning to others. Our stay was a disaster. The house had no functional AC, making it unbearably hot (85°F+). Despite repeated calls to the owner, they failed to resolve the issue.. We were even accused of lying about the issue! The property owner's lack of concern for our comfort and safety is appalling. With 18 women in our group, we had nowhere else to go. The owner's solution? Six loud, cheap box fans to circulate hot air. Avoid this property at all costs! The owner's negligence and unprofessionalism made our stay unbearable. We deserve better, and so do you. VRBO, please hold your hosts accountable for providing basic amenities like functional AC. This experience was a nightmare. And VRBO refused to help saying we had to call Evolve the 3rd party who took our money. Worst VRBO experience ever.

10 out of 10 Beautiful Home

We use this location as our annual sisterhood retreat. This home accommodation 14 ladies with room to spare. The home was very clean and well appointed. It was cozy and inviting. The listing accurately depicts it in the pictures. The pool and patio were a popular place to gather. The gas grill was clean and the propane tank was full. The management company was very responsive and detailed. I would stay again. We left reconnected, relaxed and renewed. Thank you

Caught in a lie

Well, I can’t t really tell you about the stay because my reservation was cancelled two days before my stay. For context , I booked this house almost a year ahead of time for my daughter’s graduation from Oberlin. I wanted something big enough for any family that wanted to come. I knew that the combination of it being Memorial Day weekend and Oberlin Graduation weekend would make it difficult to find rental properties. I was told that the reason for the cancellation was that the water had been shut off because of repairs to the pool. How ever, one of my family members that joined us for the weekend mistakenly used the address in the original email I sent and ended up at this house in Amherst. Imagine their confusion when they were greeted by a guest in swim trunks who had rented the house. (They had been in the backyard swimming in the “inoperable” pool!) I was lucky that I was able to find another property that could accommodate all 12 of us, but it was very distressing both to have it cancelled at the last minute and to find out I was lied to.

Getaway to Amherst Ohio

The house was so roomy and clean. Everything you needed was there from beach towels to paper towels which we didn't expect. The outdoor pool and tiki bar along with an awesome swing set were where everyone loved to hang out. Less than 2 miles is a couple blocks with quaint little places to shop and about 10 unique restaurants. About 4 miles away was type of store you could possibly need. Our interaction with the owner was very friendly and helpful. He actually came to the rescue and jumped my car on the last day because of a dead battery. We forgot sandals and a phone which he mailed back to us. You couldn't ask for a better host. I would definitely stay there again. It was one of the best places we ever rented for a getaway!!

Very bad odor

This house smelled very badly of smoke. They tried to cover it up with wall plug in deoderizers. We had all of the windows open in December as the smell was so bad. Previous issues in reviews had not been resolved. I specifically asked the question about previous issue in reviews being resolved prior to booking. I was told yes, they had been taken care of. The truth was No, they were still issues. I specifically asked if they had a kitchen table as one is not in the pictures. They said yes. However, they did not.

Perfect place to bring my family together!

We stayed 5 days in Aug 2022. Had family coming in from 4 parts of the country to meet up with my Ohio portion of the family and this house was everything we wanted for the 10 of us staying there. Very nice house that the pictures don't do justice. Access to the house was easy, plenty of room for all of us to have our space while still being together. TVs in each room, LARGE TV in the main family room. Perfect size TV for the media room. Well stocked kitchen with plenty of utensils, pots, pans, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool and having the mini fridge in the bar area was a plus! Lots of pool chairs and lounge chairs. Restaurants (fast food and sit down) close by. Amherst is a small town and this home gives you a great central location for it all. Also, BIG shout out to the host, Derrick for always responding quickly if I had a question. We had NO issues during our stay. A/C great, pool great, plenty of room and nice, quiet neighborhood.

Fun time and nice home, but……

Home is quite nice and is in a very nice neighborhood, but was in need of some repairs and upgrades such as the bath towels were extremely worn; the kitchen faucet wobbled; some of the mattresses need upgraded as they bowed in the middle and the upstairs toilet was not working properly and obviously had been leaking through the ceiling for a while. Owner was very responsive and friendly, the home is very nice, but for the money, this home needs repairs and upgrades.

Reunion weekend

Wonderful large home with heated pool and many amenities. Close friends from college got together and enjoyed the property very much. The host was extra-accommodating about extending our stay. Only two suggestions: Kleenex in the bathrooms and more wastebaskets. Otherwise, it was wonderful!
