"Overall everything was good, our only issue was after being there for a few days we noticed the toaster was full of crumbs, obviously not been emptied for quite some time, and the oven tray had not been cleaned after it had been used. We hadn’t met the owner, so decided it was easier just to clean them both before using them. On the hole, everything else was excellent. "Fantastic two night stay in a great establishment. Room was clean and very comfortable. Breakfast to die for and proper pub on site to enjoy a great pint, local friendliness and some brilliant evening entertainment. I’ll definitely be back. 👍❤️"

"Set in lovely countryside views, owners & staff all veey friendly & helpful, fabulous choice of breakfasts, meals available during evening also with a varied menu including gluten free. No hesitation in recommending The Royal Oak for any length of stay, wish we could have stayed for longer!!!!"

"Have just returned from a wonderful break at the Black Horse. The surroundings are idyllic with lavender fields, apple and plum trees as well as all the beaitiful plants Everywhere is immaculately maintained from the grounds to the restaurant and cottages. The staff were so kind and helpful . Would return in a heartbeat. "

"Friendliest staff I’ve ever met at a hotel had to move rooms due to noisy air conditioning units outside our window but accommodated us no problem couldn’t do enough for you definitely will go back thanks for a great weekend "

"The staff were the star of the show, on every interaction we had with them the were friendly and couldn't be more helpful. If you are doing Hadrians Wall Walk, this is the place to stay in Wylam / Heddon on the Wall. "

"An overnight stay needed before a uni offer day at Durham., I just wish we could have stayed longer. Clean, comfortable, everything you could possibly need and the views ! Hopefully the uni offer will be accepted and I can stay again for a while longer !"

"A lovely traditional building, beautifully decorated and good sized rooms. It's cuisine, not average grub. Challenges me to try something different. Friendly, helpful staff. An affordable treat. Fabulous location close to the Abbey with disc parking across the road and a large free car park 5 minutes walk away by the Wentworth Centre. Second visit. If they start to accept well behaved dogs I'll be back again. "
