"Hotel has nice decor and the room was clean. However, noisy guests and smoking marijuana outside the hotel due to location (lots of strange pubs nearby). The photo of the hotel is deceiving. It's right on a main road which is in a pretty run down area. SPA We booked to have a nice relax in steam room and pool. However, you have to pay £50 per person just to sit in a steam room for 2 hours. A bit excessive."

"I needed an overnight stay en route to scotland . Cartref was easy to get to from M6 and felt clean and cosy. Traffic was a little noisy ( I had to open window due to heatwave) but the host thoughtfully supplied earplugs as well as various other "extras " for myself and the dog. Shared bathroom was clean and easily accessible. I would recommend Cartref if visiting Carlisle or just passing through and i would certainly consider staying here again if in the area."

"Booked a double room but got a room with 3 single beds. Not the end of the world but not what I booked. Beds were uncomfortable. Mattress was really thin, when you sat on it you were basically sat on the bed base and when you laid on the bed you could feel the springs in your back and side. The walls were wafer thin, you can hear the tap running and toilet etc from the room next door. Also the water in the bathroom made a right racket when you ran the tap, shower or flushed the toilet. "Not at all what I expected … but we loved it ! Staff was amazing and always willing to help. Food was HOT and fresh . Do not hesitate to stay here! Close to motorway … and access is easy. "
