"Modern, fresh, well maintained hotel. Clean, quiet, spacious rooms with plenty of charging stations and outlets. Super nice bath with massive soaking tub. Excellent on-site restaurant. What is most noteworthy is the very professional, well trained and delightful staff in both the hotel and the restaurant! Would stay at Sandburn Hall again and would recommend it to a friend. "

"A lovely boutique hotel and restaurant. Beautifully decorated and equipped room (Aspen) and fabulous staff. Great dinner and breakfast. Excellent dining area overlooking a landscaped garden, with lots of extra seating on surrounding patios. Lovely small heated outdoor pool and adjacent sauna, which unfortunately we didn’t have time to try out. Maybe next time!"

"Great location 10-15 flat walk to Yorkminster. Brilliant attention to detail (tissues and cotton pads in the room). Very high quality bathroom, comfortable bed, quiet. Lovely breakfast, would recommend and will stay there again when in York. "

"Stayed at The Black Swan for an overnight trip. Location excellent, lovely walks from the door. Took our dog, were provided with a room close to an outside door which was great. Room very clean and spacious. Bed was comfortable. Quiet room. Staff at the hotel were lovely and made us feel welcome. Lovely sunny beer garden which we sat in and enjoyed our evening meal with drinks. Parking was tight and limited but again we were lucky to have got a space when we arrived. "Our stay was lovely: the manageress, bar staff and waitresses were all welcoming. They provided information about the local area and showed interest when we returned after our days out. We stayed three nights in a very comfortable room, with a good selection at breakfast. We ate in one evening which very tasty. We would definitely stay here again."

"The room was clean and had all the advertised amenities. Unfortunately when we stayed it was very warm and the windows only vented a little so there was no cross ventilation. The fan helped, but it was uncomfortable. The stairs were also very narrow up to the third floor and hard to navigate with large suitcases. "

"Very goof atmospehere. I shared a 4 bed room with my daughter for 50 which is a really good deal and the 25' walk along the river to get there was very pleasant."

"the hotel was extremely well located for the park and ride into York. Though on an A road didn't hear the traffic, however sometimes difficult to turn right out of the property. Breakfast was excellent. The area we stayed in needed updating and the room was quite warm even with the fan going. A lift where we were would be helpful, though there was one on the other side. If ever up in York again, we would definitely come again. "
