I first want to say that Curaçao was amazing—everything about the island deserves a 10-star rating.
Unfortunately, Lions Dive Resort was a completely different story. The staff and the accommodations were the worst I have encountered in all my travels, and the employees seemed miserable and unhappy.
My wife and I stayed for five days, and during that time we received maybe two smiles and a single “good morning.” From the front desk to the beach, every staff member acted as though we were an inconvenience. No one greeted us, and not once did anyone come over to see whether we needed anything. We had to practically stand up and wave our arms just to order a drink, and when someone finally noticed us, they looked at us with disgust—as if we had spat in their beverages.
The front-desk experience was just as poor: rude, miserable employees who responded to any question with eye-rolling or a sarcastic remark. Beware of the so-called “Deluxe Ocean View” rooms; ours did not really have an ocean view.
The moment we stepped outside the resort, everything changed. The locals and the restaurants were all pleasant, helpful, and welcoming. Every time we had to return to the resort we felt depressed—we couldn’t wait to leave again and explore the island. Staying at Lions Dive Resort was uncomfortable and disheartening.
I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone. Curaçao itself is incredible, but choose a different place to stay.
