Farm stay - Great Retreat with Panoramic Views

Large self-contained cottage on a rural lifestyle block. The cottage is located on the same property as the owner’s residence . A perfect place to escape the grind and get back to nature.

Property is close to Tangihua Forest where you can go hiking and hunting. Handy location to Whangarei City (22 min), and great for day trips to nearby beaches such as Whangarei Heads, Ruakaka and Dargaville. Get in some fishing at Marsden Point as well where you can also check out the refinery.

Come home afterwards to relax on the deck, and enjoy the sunset and stargazing.


NZ’s iconic Hundertwasser Art Centre and Māori Art Gallery, suited at the Whangarei Town Basin is well worth the visit. There is a cafe and on the top of the gallery is a garden with rare native species.

This has been the best BookaBach stay we've had in many years. A beautiful cottage in the middle of the country. The beds were so comfortable, the kitchen fully stocked-amazing. The art work, done by the hosts told very real stories which resonated with me. If you're wanting a quiet stay, 25 minutes south of Whangarei, make this your No 1 choice.

Had a great stay! Directions from Anita were clear and easy to follow. Views were absolutely stunning and we also loved Patrick's art inside the bach. Both hosts were friendly and happy to chat when we crossed paths.

Beautiful Tranquil Rural Location

Well if you want to get away from the madness, this is the place. The cottage is very comfortable with plenty of space, and private. Full fridge, easy to work in kitchen and clean and descent shower. The view outside of the bedroom windows is of green rolling paddocks with trees, stock, cows, horses, birdlife, just so relaxing. The bed is of excellent quality. The hosts are friendly & amenable but do not disturb you. I would highly recommend this location and will certainly be visiting again. Thank you Anita and Patrick

Pet friendly holiday

Anita and Patrick were very friendly hosts- available if needed. Bach was clean and cosy and our two dogs were very happy with local trails and bush walks around whangarei. Will definitely go back if in the area good to live simply and out of the city!

Great place for a relaxing stay, away from the hustle and bustle of people and cars. Unfortunately the weather wasn't on our side and we had to cut our trip short but we enjoyed our night and the bed was super comfy. Thanks Anita.

Countryside comfort

A lovely self contained cabin at the back of the garden. Cows over the fence, kingfishers on the clothesline, sky larks on the fence posts - a magic spot for a countryside break away.

quiet beautiful country side very relaxing

Close to hikes, gardens, museums ,art shops,If you don't mind gravel roads Good beds,clean and a well set up Place. Would be great to have some more info about the area what to do etc but the I in Whangarei was excellent .

Surreal Experience

Will definitely come back to this amazing cottage. Couple who owns it were very nice and welcoming. Stargazing at night, the best. Morning view, stunning. If you're looking for a place to relax and unwind, this is the best place to be.

Quiet and picturesque.

Nicely tucked away from the crowds and chaos this very clean bach was more spacious than the pictures showed. Everything I needed for my stay was there, including fast Wi-Fi, many cooking utensils and crockery. The bathroom was extremely clean and the shower water pressure was excellent. With beautiful rural valley views and peaceful surroundings this bach is extraordinary value. Cheers!

Perfect rural

Perfect rural setting but still not far from Whangarei and beach. Great unit for a peaceful getaway. All you'll need is the food you want to enjoy. Very comfortable bed and wonderfully quiet. Great owners and value.
