Cave Run Red River Gorge Cabin

This A frame cabin is a unique 2.5 acre getaway that is nestled in the Daniel Boone
National Forest just minutes away from Cave Run Lake, Broke Leg Falls, Red River Gorge, Morehead, and about 45 minutes from Carter Caves! You will be surrounded by nothing but nature. If you love the outdoors there is plenty to keep you busy... hiking, fishing, boating, kayaking, mountain biking, golfing, and of course if you just want a place to get away from it all this is your spot. There is a gas and charcoal fire grill to cook those burgers and roast the hot dogs. Fire pit out back perfect to roast marshmallows, eat smores and tell a few scary ghost stories. It’s a great place to escape and enjoy the simple simple things in life.

Other things to note
The cabin is at the end of the gravel driveway. The driveway has a steep incline to get
up to the main road when leaving the cabin. In the case of rain/snow I would suggest
parking at the top and walking down to the cabin. We do have pillows/towels/bed linens
available.
-We do not have any closets, dressers and/or hangers
-We do have a washer &; dryer but it is NOT for the use of guests.
-The cabin is in the middle of Daniel Boone National Forest so therefore you might see
bugs and other animals that live there.
-We do ask that guests take all the food from the fridge/take trash out and clean dishes
before they leave the cabin.

The neighborhood is very quite, and honestly you won’t see anyone because the cabin is very private you can't see it from the road.

  • This is sky bridge. The most massive arch in Red River. it spans over a hundred feet and about 50 feet in the air. Probably the most famous arch in Red River, it has been seen in movies. Many astro-photographers flock here because of it's structure and clear skyline. If you get a chance, the trail is only .8 miles and very much worth it. You first walk across the top of the arch, it is so big that you are halfway across before you notice your not just on a narrow rock path. then you circle around to be under the arch.

We weren’t sure what to expect as we are from Wisconsin and wanted a short getaway from the cold. Cabin was nice, and had everything we needed for a nice stay. Being the temperatures got cold at times, the home has some small electric fireplaces. Add one more fireplace to 2nd bedroom as it does get cold in there. Owner was responsive and gave great instructions on check in and directions. The area is not very populated, so make sure you have fun things planned ahead of time and locations. We had a good stay and was nice to get away for Christmas break.

Was not very clean. I did contact the host and he had someone come and clean the things requested but the place needs a deep clean. You will NOT be able to get a car down the driveway. Jeep or 44 maybe. It's really not that steep, it's the loose gravel. I went down in my AWD but slid and almost got stuck on the way back up. Unless he has fixed it, park at the top. And I will say the trek walking up and down is a lot. So hauling all your stuff up and down is a lot! Its a cute cabin but not well taken care of. Looked at grill and its not been maintained or cleaned. I would not stay here again.

Overall we had a great stay. The location is great if you want seclusion! The driveway is very steep, do not recommend bringing a car! We used our 4-wheel drive/AWD going up and down. It is not trailer friendly, if you’re bringing ATVs or anything like that. There are two twin beds in one room & a queen in the other. Loved that the couches reclined and there are towels available to use, along with washer & dryer. We enjoyed the fire pit and hammock. There’s a Dollar General 2 miles away, if you need a quick run to the store.

The property was beautiful and well-equipped for our stay. We enjoyed being able to make meals in the kitchen and on the grill as well as roast marshmallows at the fire pit. The back porch was amazing. The place feels very secluded and relaxing!

Overall good experience! Cute place. Driveway as mentioned is tricky. We didn’t have a car with 4-wheel drive and were advised to park at the top. The walk going up and down wasn’t the smoothest but not terrible.

Great stay with a well stocked cabin

Awesome property with AC. Hot while we were there so was great to have. Fire pit and chairs were great. Full kitchen with everything we needed to make 5 star meals. Only slight negatives was the driveway to the cabin. Had a Subaru, so wasn’t an issue for us, but if you had to walk down all your stuff, that would be cumbersome both down and back up. It’s an AFrame so the stairs to the loft are tight and steep. Still was able to conquer after a few bourbons. Owner was responsive and informative. Highly recommend enjoying this cabin.

Amazing cabin

We actually stayed at another property owned by this owner, but i can't seem to be able to leave a recommendation on that cabin. The host was amazing, very reaponsive, and went above and beyond. Every detail was met, cabin was clean and very well stocked with everything we didn’t think to bring. Would very much recommend. We had a much needed and very relaxing weekend.

Nice Getaway

Definitely a cute little hidden gem! Please note as mentioned the driveway is very steep and there is no way to bring any kind of trailer down of any kind. Also restaurants and grocery stores other than Dollar General are about a half hour away. If you are ok with those 2 things this is the place for you!

Beautiful Quiet Stay

The entire property is beautiful and quiet, can't hear much of anything except nature. The place was clean and tidy, Kevin provided clear directions to the residence to help navigate in, clear instructions for check in and out, very communicative during the booking process as well. The driveway warning is accurate, it's very steep and anything but an experienced suv driver or 4 wheel drive will get back up. Walking up and down is a bit of a struggle but not too bad for daily use. The stairs inside are a bit steep. Other than that the entire place was spectacular. The firepit is by far my favorite area, roasting sticks and matches/lighters are provided for use to roast marshmallows which was very convenient! Barely any phone service but the internet is very good and don't have to worry about not being able to communicate.
