Enjoy Bethany’s Retreat House for a relaxing vacation on the shores of beautiful Shadow Lake, in Waupaca, WI. Whether you are here for a fun vacation, to refresh your spirit or on a business trip, our lake side lodge is the perfect home away from home.

Our lodge retreat is located right on the lake and is fully furnished with plenty of space and amenities for everyone. There are plenty of activities on-site and within a short distance of the Retreat House. Conveniently close to downtown Waupaca but has the camping experience you need to getaway.

There are three large common rooms throughout the house that have available seating for your whole group with a great view of Shadow Lake seen clearly through large windows.

Outdoor seating and chairs are also at the Retreat House for you to use throughout your stay; with options to relax in the sun or the shade. Go out on the lake with your favorite watercraft to soak up the sun.

Enjoy the pool table, dartboard, movies and other indoor games on a rainy day. Make dinner on the grill, over a fire, use the kitchen or even walk over to one of Bethany’s restaurants to pick up some food. Downtown also has a variety of unique dining choices for you to try out. The Retreat House has everything you’ll need to truly unwind.

Bethany’s Retreat House is located right on Shadow Lake, which is a prime location to see Waupaca’s annual 4th of July fireworks.

The house is close to a city park which has a playground, picnic area, two shelters, bath house, fishing pier, boat launch, and museum. The sandy swimming beach has a raft, slide and diving board. Lifeguards are on duty Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Close to the Retreat House is Bethany’s Crystal River Walking Trail with rest stops and boardwalks that extend to oversee the Crystal River.

Great space, loved the vintage vibe. It did get quite toasty upstairs, so knowing that now I would have set the thermostats lower. Easy checkout list, beautiful views, decent fishing. Two small suggestions, have a salt and pepper Shaker for guests as well as a dish drying rack. We would definitely come back!

Our multi-generation family group of 14 enjoyed a long post-Christmas weekend at Shadow Lake Lodge. We’ve rented several large homes for our gatherings over the years and agree this one is at the top of our list! Very clean, room for all, and a well-equipped kitchen. The host was super friendly and extremely responsive. We noticed a mechanical issue and while it didn’t impact our stay, we wanted to make the host aware. The maintenance person was there in minutes on a Sunday morning and was also very friendly. We highly recommend this charming home. We hope to return in the future to take advantage of the warm-weather amenities!

The place has a great heartbeat. It is so welcoming and a breathtaking view.The kitchen has every gadget you need. The beds are firm. We really enjoyed the pier, fishing, hanging out on the lilypad, and kayaking were so relaxing. We enjoyed having a bonfir.e that we could all sit around. The inside was wonderful with so much space for all. We had a fabulous time and would love to return.

Great location right on the lake. Plenty of activities on and away from the property. We thought 3 bathrooms for 15 people would be a strain but it worked out well. Though the shower in the lower level is not really for adults. Great fun. Would book again.

Had a great time, but hot

We really enjoyed our stay here, but we went the hottest week of the summer. The air conditioning unit is not big enough for the big house. It was very hot being in the large kitchen with vaulted ceiling.Broken door Nob to the main upstairs bathroom. Several people would get stuck in the bathroom including a young child at one point. It was easy to lock ourselves out of the garage and had to call maintenance a couple times. Loved the dock! So convenient and fun for the kids. Awesome having the beach nearby.

We had a lovely time, despite a pretty crazy storm coming through! The host was excellent, and available when needed. Someone also stopped by after the storm to check on us, and let us know they had flashlights, etc. if needed.

Family Time!

This was our third year to meet at Shadow Lake for some much needed family time. The house has an ideal layout for both family meals and social time as well as quiet spots to get away from the crowd. We love having all the kayaks, the canoe and paddle board available for fun times on the lake. We’ll be back!!

We have been there before and enjoyed the inside space with sleeping spots for 14 family members. The kitchen is well-appointed with what we needed mostly . But would like Kleenex. Salt and Paper. Regular coffee maker needs vinegar cleaning. Need more than two youth life jackets. Plastic cups in bathrooms. Provide more than one roll of TP per bathroom. Extra paper towel . Really like the new flooring downstairs!

Great escape

Me, my husband and our two grown daughters all thoroughly enjoyed our time at Shadow Lake. It’s a perfect location with wonderful amenities like the kayaks & paddle boards. Our host was wonderful and very responsive to an unusual situation, handling it very professionally, which I really appreciated. Highly recommend and would stay again!
