Coach House In The Picturesque Village Of Mere

Coach House is situated in the beautiful town of Mere, ideally located behind the medieval Castle Hill where Mere Castle once stood. With shops, pubs, parks and rolling countryside all within walking distance The Coach House is ideal for your holiday. Situated in the old part of the town our nearest pub is a 2 minute walk away, and a quick walk up Castle Hill will enable you to take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding three counties (Wiltshire, Dorset and Somerset). There are many attractions within an hours drive from the property. Take a trip into Salisbury and visit one of England's best Cathedrals, or submerge yourself in the world of Austen by spending a day in Bath with its stunning Georgian Architecture and the famous Roman Baths. A 20 minute drive will take you to the impressive Longleat (and safari park), home to the Marquess of Bath, and there are numerous National Trust properties nearby, (the closest being Stourhead) - many of which have been used as film locations and all steeped in English history and charm.

The Coach House consists of kitchen, dining room, sitting room, downstairs w.c. and utility cupboard (washer/dryer) - upstairs there are two bedrooms (one double and one twin) and a bathroom with shower head attachment (no standing shower). Outside there is off road parking for one vehicle, a patio and a small fenced/gated garden. There is wifi at the property.

Very quaint, excellent location, some of the furniture is a bit worn, and a coffee table in the lounge is needed. Kitchen had everything you could possibly need to cook a Christmas dinner! And the Christmas tree was such a nice touch.

We had a truly wonderful stay at The Coach House, and managed to visit lots of lovely local towns all a short distance away, Frome and Shaftesbury were both highlights with lovely independent shops and spots to eat. The house is very comfortable and perfect for a family looking for a cosy escape. Mere is a beautiful little town, Helen was a great host and we had everything we needed on hand for a really relaxing stay surrounded by stunning walks and scenery.

Mere was quite busy over the Bank Holiday weekend, but this was not a problem. We had an excellent meal in the Stapleton Arms, Buckhorn Weston. The owners and staff were lovely, and they serve fresh fish daily.

Family stay

We needed a place to stay close to family in the village. Then coach house was a perfect option. A quick walk into the small main village. Everything was clean and easy to use. Helen was super responsive. Snug space but very comfortable. 2 bedrooms with comfortable beds. We had a lovely stay!

Great stay.

Coach House was the perfect location for our short break. The rustic cottage is comfortable, clean and has all the facilities needed for a home from home stay. The host was very friendly, helpful and made us feel welcome. The village is quiet and picturesque with several pubs, takeaways and small shops.

Praktisch gelegenes, sehr hübsches Haus

Wir haben die perfekte Lage des Coach House genutzt, um von dort einige Sehenswürdigkeiten Südenglands zu besuchen und nach den anstrengenden Tage uns abends dort zu erholen. Es ist sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet und alles was man braucht ist vorhanden. Ein super Ferienhaus, sehr zu empfehlen.

The cottage was lovely and had everything youd need but it could do with a bit of TLC the windows and the door could really do with a coat of paint and it would be beautiful and welcoming the mattresses and pillows were definitely the worst id ever slept on or never slept on
