Bach - Whanarua Bay Cottages

  • Whanarua Bay Cottages are located half way between Te Kaha and Waihau Bay. About an hours drive from Opotiki along the beautiful Pacific Coast Highway (SH35).

    The Bach consisting of two buildings, one used for sleeping quarters and the other has the kitchen and lounge with a separate shower and toilet. Decking and a covered outdoor seating area connects the two building together. The sleeping quarters has two rooms, with two single beds in one and a single and a queen size bed in the other. This cottage will sleep up to five people comfortably and all beds have fresh linen provided. The section is large with plenty of room for parking and for the kids to run around.

    Special conditions:
    Tariff is for 2 people
    Extra adults $25 per night
    Extra children $15 per night

    No Charge for Children 3 Years old and younger

    The minimum stay is 2 nights
    High Season Rates applies to Long Weekends
    All cottages are Non Smoking.

Fishing Trip

Great home base for a week of fishing. Awesome that you are allowed pets outside. Nice neighborhood and has everything you need. This batch is just that - don't expect a flash house or anything but it was perfect for what we were after. Bring bug spray with you though!

When its good to be central to nowhere

A great little/big shaded base camp for the coastal drifters. Central to nowhere and quiet. Big enough to kick a ball in the shade, with a good-sized kitchen/entertaining area. Yet small enough to easily maintain through your stay. The only bug was that I couldn't get the wifi sorted, which would be an issue for parents with whinging kids. Solid 4 stars from me :)

Awesome bach

The bach was a great home away from home. Comfy beds, large kitchen area with full size fridge and oven. Only downfall was the shower, the pressure was almost non-existent.

Location good.

Location good. Seaview is tainted by a big pile of logs and a old rusty trailer close to the back decking. The accomodation comprised off two portacabins and metal doors. You were expected to take all green waste and rubbish away. The closest rubbish tip was closed on the day we left. The fridge seal was hanging off .

The accomadation for what it is “a bach” is fine and is relatively cosy, however there were a few issues: -no smoke alarms -an oven that has no bake function -the seperate sleeping room can’t be locked from the outside. -rusty sharp corrigated iron on the deck. -one of the showers has no tap connection for the temperature.

we really enjoyed staying in this little bach at Whanarua. It had a great bach feel to it with a lovely outdoor setting and a good arrangement for sleeping as well as a good kitchen/living area. Very relaxing :-)

Very relaxing, simple bach in a great location.

Very relaxing, simple bach in a great location. Nice and clean, and well equipped. It would benefit from some fly screens so windows can be left open at night, as the rooms get very warm.

The Bach is rustic and very well situated.

The Bach is rustic and very well situated. If you are looking for a place away from it (i.e. no cell phone and limited WiFi) then this is the placed to be. Margaret has kept it clean and well set up. We spent 10 days there and came away well relaxed, pity about the weather.
