Unfortunately Hotel Normandy fails to deliver. The staff are lovely, (though one woman was quite rude to me everyone else was AMAZING and more than made up for her). They are so kind and happy to chat with you, explain everything you need to know, etc. Sadly, this hotel almost feels like it was opened up years ago and the owner was unable to maintain it. Upon entrance a couple and I waited about 15 minutes for the elevator which was not working, my first sign. We finally got it to work and I headed up to my room which was very outdated, and a little bit creepy honestly. There was no air conditioning, which is not unreasonable given that it's Europe, but instead just a small fan, and a bug on my pillow. The hotel restaurant which they advertise as open and serving dinner - I even looked at the menu online, I was told only serves breakfast to the public and I couldn't eat there. This was disappointing as it's a small town so there are not a ton of food options. I ended up checking out a day early because I was unbearably uncomfortable and couldn't sleep in there. When I asked about a refund for the second night they said "no because it doesn't fall in the 48 hour cancellation window" which I didn't love, but again understood. Sadly on Expedia it's been telling me this was non-refundable since December. I know because I tried to cancel. They should organize and streamline their policies. I wish the hotel luck but they need a renovation, improved cleanliness, and services.
