STUNNING DORSODURO HOME WITH SECRET GARDEN & TWO PRIVATE TERRACES
- STUNNING DORSODURO HOME WITH SECRET GARDEN & TWO PRIVATE TERRACES
Beyond an ancient Byzantine archway decorated with intricate stone carvings lies Ca’ Minore, a beautifully refurbished Venetian retreat in the serene Dorsoduro district. Combining elegant interiors, original artwork, historic architectural details, a private courtyard garden, and peaceful canal-side surroundings, this distinctive home offers an authentic and exceptionally atmospheric way to experience Venice.
Located near Campo Incurabili, Ca’ Minore is tucked away from the busiest tourist routes while remaining close to some of Venice’s most celebrated cultural and waterfront attractions. The Peggy Guggenheim Collection and the spectacular canal-side views of the Zattere are just moments away.
The property accommodates up to six guests across three stylish bedrooms and is spread over two floors. Air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and a washer/dryer provide modern convenience, while the home's original features and carefully selected furnishings preserve its unmistakable Venetian character.
THE PROPERTY
Ca’ Minore is accessed through two private entrances, offering flexibility depending on your direction of arrival.
The first entrance is reached through the distinctive Byzantine archway from Calle Navaro and leads directly into the garden when arriving from the Zattere. The second entrance opens into the main apartment from the parallel Calle del Forno.
The property has been freshly refurbished and furnished in an elegant, classic style using neutral colours, original artwork, traditional beams, and other details that reflect the historic character of Venice.
GROUND FLOOR — KITCHEN & DINING
The ground floor begins with a well-equipped galley-style kitchen and dining room.
Streamlined kitchen units are complemented by white-painted beams and a vintage refectory dining table with matching wooden benches. The arrangement creates a welcoming space for preparing meals and dining together.
The kitchen provides a practical base for self-catering during your stay, allowing guests to enjoy meals at home while surrounded by the distinctive atmosphere of a historic Venetian residence.
GROUND FLOOR — SITTING ROOM
The attractively presented sitting room provides a comfortable place to relax and enjoy the garden beyond.
Comfy seating faces wide bi-fold French windows that open directly onto the west-facing furnished garden. This connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces is one of Ca’ Minore's defining features and provides a rare opportunity to enjoy a private garden in Venice.
The garden captures afternoon sunlight and becomes particularly atmospheric later in the day, when Venetian hand-blown glass and wire lanterns illuminate the outdoor setting.
THE SECRET GARDEN
The furnished courtyard garden is the centrepiece of Ca’ Minore.
Laced with climbing plants and trees, the garden features raised flower beds, terracotta-brick castellated walls, and comfortable furnishings for enjoying the outdoors. It provides a peaceful setting for al fresco dining, reading, or simply relaxing away from the activity of the city.
At the centre of the garden is a decorative wrought-iron water door, guarded by a pair of Venetian lions and facing the tranquil Rio di Toresele canal.
Please note that the water door is decorative and is not in use.
GROUND FLOOR — BEDROOM
A sliding door from the sitting room leads into a cosy beamed bedroom overlooking the garden.
The room features twin beds, which can be made into a double upon request, making the sleeping arrangement flexible for different types of guests.
A porthole window looks onto the garden, while a painting depicting the nearby 17th-century Chiesa and Scuola Spirito Santo adds another connection to the surrounding neighbourhood and its history.
The bedroom is positioned close to a storage and dressing room with wardrobe, which leads into the ground-floor bathroom.
GROUND FLOOR — BATHROOM
The bathroom on the ground floor features a shower and a beautifully carved stone wash basin.
Its design complements the historic character of Ca’ Minore, incorporating traditional-looking materials and details rather than feeling disconnected from the rest of the home.
FIRST FLOOR — TWO DOUBLE BEDROOMS
Stone steps lead from the ground floor to the first floor, where two further double bedrooms are positioned at opposite ends of the property.
Both bedrooms feature double beds, beamed ceilings, characterful bottle-bottom hand-blown glass windows, and French doors opening onto their own private furnished terraces.
The terraces are filled with plants and extend over the beautiful courtyard garden below, giving each bedroom its own outdoor space and creating a particularly peaceful setting.
One of the bedrooms has a stylish en-suite bathroom with a bathtub, while the other has an equally elegant en-suite bathroom with a shower.
The arrangement gives the two first-floor bedrooms a strong sense of privacy, while the private terraces provide additional spaces to enjoy the atmosphere of the property.
